Job Title: Corporate Controller Job ID: 86776 Location: Edmonton, Alberta Overview Our client is seeking a strong Corporate Controller for their growing organization with the following background and skill set: Build the Finance Function Inside a Growing Multi-Entity Operating Group We are hiring an experienced accounting professional to lead and oversee the finance function across our organization. This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in construction or related industries, who has served as a controller for 3-5 years and is comfortable managing full-cycle accounting, payroll, and inter company transactions in a handson environment. You will work directly with ownership and alongside our external accountant to strengthen internal financial oversight, improve reporting quality, and ensure efficient management of financial operations across the group, which generates approximately $15M in annual revenue. This is a key leadership role with broad responsibility, direct business exposure, and the opportunity to shape the financial operations of a growing organization. What you will be doing This role is designed for an experienced professional who can take immediate ownership of broad accounting and finance responsibilities inside a real operating business. You will oversee core accounting processes across the group, including full oversight of accounting, payroll, and inter company fund transfers, while contributing to reporting, analysis, forecasting, controls, and financial planning. For the right candidate, this role offers a path to expanded responsibilities as the internal finance capability of the group grows. Financial Accounting and Month-End Oversee day-to-day accounting across multiple entities Prepare and review journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules Complete monthly bank, credit card, loan, and intercompany reconciliations Own the month-end close process Prepare accurate monthly reporting packages for management and ownership Investigate variances, unusual balances, and reporting issues Accounts Payable, Receivable, and Payroll Oversight Manage accounts payable and receivable processes across the group Monitor collections, payment timing, and working capital activity Oversee payroll processing and related reconciliations Ensure accounting records are complete, timely, and accurate Tax, Compliance, and External Accountant Coordination Prepare GST and indirect tax working papers Maintain organized year-end files and support schedules Coordinate with the external accountant for compliance, tax, and year-end requirements Improve the quality of internal records to reduce external cleanup time and accounting costs Management Reporting and Finance Support Prepare monthly management reporting for shareholders Oversee group cash flow reporting and forecasting Track margins, overhead, and operating performance across business lines Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis Provide financial insight to support ownership decision-making Controls, Systems, and Process Improvement Strengthen internal controls, approval processes, and financial discipline Improve month-end workflows and accounting procedures Implement more reliable reporting across all entities Lead the transition from reactive accounting support to stronger proactive internal finance management What you must have We are looking for someone who is ambitious, detail-oriented, commercially aware, and ready to take ownership. 3 to 5 years of experience as a controller, preferably in the construction industry Strong understanding of reconciliations, month-end, and core financial reporting Experience in full-cycle accounting, multi-entity environments, or public practice Comfortable operating in a handson, entrepreneurial business environment Motivated to contribute to a broader finance leadership role Strong assets include CPA designation Experience in construction, trades, project-based, or service-based businesses Exposure to intercompany accounting and fund movements Experience with job costing, inventory flows, or operational finance reporting Strong Excel and accounting systems capability Salary/Rate Range $100,000.00 $120,000.00 Other Information What We Offer Competitive salary based on experience Benefits and vacation Direct exposure to ownership and business decision-making A real opportunity to help build and improve the internal finance function A clear path toward greater responsibility and long-term growth within the organization Thank you for your interest in this opportunity.
