The Transportation Logistics Manager will join a team of employees focused on Fulfillment and Logistics solutions for Domestic and International Operations. As the Transportation Logistics Manager, you will contribute to the companys continued growth by: Managing supply chain and logistics activities associated with an international business; this role interacts with internal and external stakeholders including sales, procurement, demand planning, production, customs brokers, QA, freight forwarders, 3PLs and government agencies (CFIA/CBSA) ensuring a seamless and timely receipt of shipping and inventory. Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, this role effectively trains and mentors the logistics team to create a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. Job Overview The Logistics Coordinator plays a key role in supporting production operations through planning, coordination, and monitoring of the safe and secure movement of products and materials. Reporting to Logistics Management, this position is responsible for coordinating external carriers, managing cross-border (Canada/USA) transportation, maintaining cold chain integrity, and ensuring compliance with transportation, customs, and food safety requirements. This role has a direct impact on food safety, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency and requires strict adherence to PCFPs Food Safety Management System. Curiosity Know your business and our products Proactively seek knowledge Passionate about continuous improvement Job Responsibilities Transportation Planning and Dispatch Plan, organize and manage the import and export requirements for the movement of trucks to our customers or from our vendors according to the direction of the Sales team and/or the applicable sales order or purchase order. Review and verify all orders for accuracy from the Sales team. Schedule pick-up and delivery appointments with carriers, service providers, customs brokers, and 3PL partners including ocean containers. Proactively handle and identify questions, problems and resolve customer complaints in collaboration with external service providers and the logistics manager Carrier and Freight Management Research and negotiate new pricing for both current and future truck movement. Negotiate rates for block reservations or specific corporate clients. Advise all applicable parties (purchaser, customer, supplier, etc.) of most profitable shipping method. Collate a supplier LTL rates freight sheet. Track and monitor inbound and outbound shipments and proactively manage delivery timelines. Review and approve freight, transportation, and customs invoices for accuracy and cost control. Maintain records related to open trailers, cargo damage, freight claims, and shipment discrepancies. Multimodal Transportation Management Strategically plan and oversee end-to-end transportation of goods across ground, rail, air, and ocean routes based on all sales orders (including samples), purchase orders, customer requirements, and supply chain priorities. Coordinate shipments with steamship lines, freight forwarders, 3PLs, customs brokers, and carriers to ensure optimal routing, service, and cost performance. Evaluate and select transportation vendors based on service quality, compliance, reliability, and cost-efficiency; drive continuous improvement through vendor performance management. Documentation and Regulatory Compliance Prepare, review, and maintain shipping, transportation, and customs documentation, including Bills of Lading, manifests, and import/export records. Prepare and sign Ministerial Exemption documents and coordinate with regulatory agencies for fresh fruit imports. Work with customs brokers, carriers, and regulatory agencies to resolve FDA or Customs holds, shipment delays, and documentation issues. Ensure compliance with transportation, customs, safety, and regulatory requirements across all logistics activities. Food Safety and Quality Compliance Carry out all duties in compliance with PCFPs Food Safety Management System. Ensure cold chain integrity is maintained throughout transportation, shipping, and receiving activities. Support internal and external audits by preparing logistics documentation and reports in collaboration with QA and other stakeholders. Qualifications Experience in logistics, transportation coordination, or supply chain operations, preferably in a food processing or manufacturing environment. Demonstrated experience coordinating cross-border (Canada/USA) shipments and working with customs brokers and regulatory agencies. Strong knowledge of transportation documentation, fleet compliance, and cold chain requirements. Proficiency with ERP systems and logistics-related reporting. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, operational environment. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Availability to work evenings, weekends, and on-call as operationally required.
