As our team continues to grow, we are seeking a dedicated Construction Safety Officer to support our ongoing and upcoming infrastructure projects. Position Summary The Construction Safety Officer will be responsible for overseeing site safety activities to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards. This role plays a key part in identifying hazards, monitoring safety practices, and ensuring that work is carried out safely and efficiently. Key Responsibilities Monitor construction site activities to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures. Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards and ensure safe work practices are followed. Promote and enforce safety standards among workers, contractors, and subcontractors. Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, and support the implementation of corrective actions. Maintain safety records, reports, and documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements. Coordinate safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety training for site personnel. Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety controls on site. Support the project team in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment throughout construction activities. Qualifications: Up to Ten (10) years experience in construction safety discipline Advanced understanding of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction Regulations, its application on construction projects, establishment of strong safety culture on-site and accident prevention techniques, compliance with external and internal policies. Completion of a formal education in the field of Occupational Health and Safety combined with applicable experience. Safety professional designations including at least one of the following: - Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) - Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) - Canadian Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) - National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills. Good writing, interpersonal and oral communication skills are essential for the preparation and presentation of reports, and training packages. Familiarity with Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training, Skills and Development, Electrical Safety Authority, WSIB, TSSA, policies and practices and their relationship to the transit industry. Familiarity with IHSA COR Program. Excellent knowledge of electrical safety processes, specific to the Province of Ontario and transit environment.
