What You Bring Education (Elevated and Inclusive) To uphold the professionalism, responsibility, and high standards of the role, candidates must meet one of the following qualification pathways: A postsecondary diploma (minimum two years) in any field; or A combination of education, training, and substantial relevant experience that demonstrates readiness for the role; or A secondary school diploma supported by significant experience in positions involving responsibility, public interaction, operational duties, or decisionmaking. Conditions of Employment Security Clearance- Be able to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Reliability Status a reflection of your integrity and trustworthiness. Commitment to Training Excellence- Successfully complete PPS training in fitness, firearms, defensive tactics, and emergency response. This is where your skills are sharpened, and your confidence is built. Psychological Readiness- Complete a psychological assessment that ensures youre prepared for the responsibilities of the role. Operational Fitness- Maintain the level of fitness needed to respond effectively in fastmoving or highpressure situations. Valid Drivers License- Demonstrate readiness for mobility and operational duties. Professional Duty & Commitment- Be willing to wear the uniform, carry a firearm, and work 24/7 rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and statutory holidays as part of a team that safeguards Parliament around the clock Security Screening Requirement (Enhanced Reliability Status) All Protection Officer positions require an Enhanced Reliability Status security clearance. This screening process includes identity verification, fingerprinting, a criminal record check, a credit check, and a review of your personal and background history. Processing times vary based on individual circumstances. Candidates who have lived, worked, or spent extended periods outside Canada may experience significantly longer timelinessometimes exceeding one yeardue to mandatory outofcountry verifications. Past financial or legal challenges do not automatically disqualify you; however, they may require additional verification. Providing complete, accurate information at every stage helps minimize delays and supports a smoother review process. Asset Qualifications Postsecondary studies- Background in criminology, law, justice, security, or related fields. Service experience- Experience in the military, police, security, or emergency response environments. First Aid & CPR certification- Demonstrated readiness to respond in critical situations. Bilingual proficiency- Ability to serve the public in both official languages. Experience working with diverse communities- Confidence engaging respectfully with people from every background.
