Key Responsibilities As the Heavy Equipment Technician , you will play a critical role in ensuring industrial engines and power systems operate at peak performance, minimizing downtime and maximizing reliability for clients across diverse industries. Equipment Diagnostics & Repair Perform detailed diagnostics, troubleshooting, and mechanical repairs on heavy-duty industrial engines and related equipment. Identify root causes of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues to deliver accurate, efficient, and lasting repairs. Preventative Maintenance & Inspections Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and compliance with safety standards. Complete service documentation thoroughly and accurately to maintain detailed maintenance histories and support operational planning. Engine Overhaul & Component Rebuilds Disassemble, inspect, and rebuild major engine components according to manufacturer specifications. Apply precision measurement tools and technical manuals to ensure all rebuilds meet quality and performance standards. Field Service & Customer Support Travel to client sites as required to perform on-site service, emergency repairs, and commissioning support. Communicate clearly with customers regarding findings, timelines, and recommendations to support informed decision-making. Safety & Team Collaboration Adhere to all company and site-specific safety protocols, maintaining a strong culture of workplace safety. Collaborate with fellow technicians, parts teams, and service coordinators to ensure efficient workflow and exceptional service delivery. Qualifications To succeed in this role, candidates should demonstrate: Education & Experience: Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician certification or equivalent trade qualification. 35+ years of hands-on experience working with heavy-duty equipment or industrial engines. Experience with high-horsepower diesel engines or power generation systems is considered a strong asset. Technical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude with proven diagnostic and troubleshooting capabilities. Proficiency in reading schematics, service manuals, and technical documentation. Experience using precision measurement tools and diagnostic software. Familiarity with hydraulic and electrical systems is an asset. Key Competencies: Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in high-pressure environments. Proactive mind set with the ability to work independently and manage service priorities effectively. Clear communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
