About the ProjectCross Fraser Partnership (CFP) is a Bouygues Construction Canada Inc., Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas Canada Ltd., Pomerleau BC Inc. and Arcadis Canada Inc. general partnership that has been selected to collaboratively deliver a new, eight-lane immersed tube tunnel that will replace the existing George Massey Tunnel on Highway 99. The new tunnel will have three vehicle lanes and a dedicated transit lane in each direction, with a separated active transportation corridor for cyclists and pedestrians.Position OverviewThis role involves helping to manage the federal and provincial (and municipal) permitting process for a large infrastructure project, ensuring compliance with environmental approvals and regulations and stakeholder requirements. The ideal candidate will collaborate with project teams, regulatory agencies, and external consultants to facilitate environmental permitting approval processes and maintain alignment with project goals.Key ResponsibilitiesHelp oversee and manage the application, review, and approval process for required environmental permits.Identify and help resolve information deficiencies that may be impediments to the permitting processSupport senior staff and liaise with the project team and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental regulationsCoordinate with the Indigenous Relations team to align permitting requirements and schedule with the engagement needs and scheduleCoordinate with design and construction teams to align the permits and approvals with the project scheduleSupport communication, collaboration, and record-keeping with identified Indigenous communities and stakeholders, including local communities, environmental groups, and government agenciesMaintain a detailed database of permits required, permit conditions and ensure ongoing compliance through monitoring and reportingReview environmental requirements and project approval conditions so that the project adheres to applicable environmental laws and standardsCoordinate with design and construction teams so that mitigation measures are considered during progressive design and development of construction means and methodsResearch global innovations in construction industry related to construction materials and mitigating effects on local communitiesPrepare, review, and submit documentation for permitting, including reports, effects evaluations, and environmental management plansHelp prepare presentation materials, including information packages, to support meetings or open houses Help manage and audit third-party environmental monitoring servicesIdentify and track potential risks related to environmental approvals and recommend mitigation strategiesEducation and QualificationsBachelors Degree in Environmental Science, Aquatic/Marine Biology, Ecology, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.1+ years of experience in environmental assessment and permitting and/or environmental monitoring in BC and in freshwater/marine environments.Right to work in CanadaExperience with the permitting requirements of federal and B.C. environmental agencies.Previous work experience with environmental assessmentStrong, concise technical writer with experience preparing environmental management plansExperience with coordination and tracking communications with Indigenous community representatives and government regulatory agencies (e.g., through use of stakeholder management software)Proficiency in project management tools and ability to meet strict deadlines.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Why You Should ApplyComprehensive benefits - medical, dental, vision.Up to 5% RRSP matching.Career advancement, training, and education opportunities.Four weeks vacation.The expected salary range for this opportunity is $80,000 - 110,000. Please note that salaries may vary depending on the candidates experience and geographical location.
