Position Overview The Payroll & Benefits Coordinator is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll and the administration of employee benefit programs. The role plays a key part in supporting day-to-day payroll operations and ensuring employees receive accurate pay and benefits administration. Responsibilities Process full-cycle payroll for employees on a biweekly or semi-monthly basis, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of all pay transactions. Serve as a backup to the primary payroll resource, supporting payroll operations and ensuring continuity of payroll processing during absences or peak periods. Process payroll changes including new hires, terminations, salary adjustments, bonuses, commissions, leaves of absence, and benefit deductions. Review and reconcile payroll registers and ensure payroll data accuracy prior to final submission. Assist with year-end payroll activities, including preparation and distribution of T4s and related filings. Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Administer employee group benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, and terminations. Act as a liaison between employees and benefit providers to resolve issues or inquiries. Maintain accurate benefits records and ensure payroll deductions align with benefit elections. Assist employees with benefits questions and provide guidance on available programs. Maintain accurate employee records within the HRIS and payroll systems. Ensure compliance with applicable employment standards, tax regulations, and company policies. Assist with payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting. Support HR initiatives, projects, and process improvements related to payroll and benefits administration. Qualifications Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Payroll Administration, Accounting, or related field. PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation or enrollment is considered an asset. 24 years of payroll and/or benefits administration experience. Experience with payroll systems or HRIS platforms (e.g., ADP, Dayforce, Workday, or similar). Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation and payroll processes across multiple provinces. Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Strong communication and customer service skills.
