All screening is conducted internally by a member of the HR team and/or the hiring manager. PURPOSE The Legal Intern will report to the General Counsel. The Legal Interns purpose shall be to support the legal and compliance teams with ongoing projects such as database organization, contract management and review, legal research, and general legal administrative support. RESPONSIBILITIES Work collaboratively with the members of the Legal, Compliance and Privacy Department on a wide range of legal files, corporate initiatives and departmental matters; Participate in commercial negotiations, and assist with the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts; Draft letters and other legal and business documents; Manage and coordinate commercial, legal and regulatory matters, including regulatory, corporate and compliance filings; Provide assistance to the companys business and functional units in their day-to-day operations; Assist with updating the Legal Departments commercial precedents; Conduct due diligence and document review for transactions, projects, and corporate initiatives; Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda; Update dealer owner information; Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external service providers to gather information, support legal workflows and ensure the smooth resolution of the project or initiative; Attend meetings and participate in a variety of legal transactions and business initiatives; Assist with file management, including initial review, status updates, and maintaining organized records and tracking systems. TYPICAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PROFILE Undergraduate degree in arts, criminal justice, or something similar. Law school experience (one year or more) is an asset, but is not required. Educational or career experience with written advocacy, research papers, and persuasive writing. Previous experience in similar role is an asset, but not required. A demonstrated willingness to learn and interest in the law.
