The Neighbourhood Group (TNG) is a multi-service agency that includes Central Neighbourhood House, Neighbourhood Link Support Services and St. Stephens Community House JOB OPPORTUNITY Job# TNG2026-33 POSITION TITLE: Supervisor, Service User Advisory Group (SUAG) DEPARTMENT: Urban Health and Homelessness Services STATUS: Regular Full Time, Non-Bargaining Unit # HRS / WEEK: 35 CONTRACT DATES: ASAP until March 31, 2027 REPORT TO: Director, Mobile Community Health Services ANNUAL SALARY: $71,132.00 GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Neighbourhood Group Community Services (TNGCS) will operate a Service User Advisory Group (SUAG) comprised of individuals currently or recently experiencing homelessness in Toronto, including those accessing shelters, respites, warming centres, drop-ins, or living outdoors. The SUAG Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating, facilitating, and supporting the development and implementation of the advisory group to ensure meaningful service user engagement in policy development and service delivery improvement. In partnership with MSSP Peers, this role will ensure that the group is grounded in harm reduction, trauma-informed practice, anti-oppression, and equity principles. The SUAG Supervisor will oversee recruitment, onboarding, governance development, meeting facilitation, documentation, honoraria distribution, reporting, and evaluation processes in alignment with Toronto Shelter and Support Services (TSSS) requirements and funding obligations. This role is ideal for a candidate with lived/living experience of homelessness and strong facilitation, coordination, and community engagement skills. Please be aware that the SUAG Supervisor will work across various sites and will support some MSSP leadership duties. Flexibility to work on weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight shifts is required. MAJOR DUTIES: Develop and operationalize the Service User Advisory Group, including administrative and governance support Develop and implement recruitment, application, and screening processes for group membership in consultation with TSSS Ensure selected members meet eligibility criteria Facilitate the establishment of group principles, Terms of Reference, governance structure, and workplan Coordinate and facilitate regular SUAG meetings (target 812 members; maximum 20) Prepare agendas, onboarding materials, meeting minutes, and consultation summaries Manage internal communications and liaise between SUAG members, TSSS, and community partners Coordinate training and capacity-building opportunities for members Oversee honoraria payments, transportation reimbursements, childcare reimbursements, and budget tracking Book meeting spaces, vendors, refreshments, and process payments Support the group in responding to consultation requests, focus groups, and policy review initiatives Implement outreach strategies to ensure representation from equity-deserving populations including Indigenous peoples, Black communities, 2SLGBTQ+ individuals, newcomers, refugees, seniors, and individuals experiencing chronic homelessness Provide support with a focus on stability and supported employment to Peer Workers Supervising and providing ongoing support to a diverse team of Shift Leads and Peer Support Workers, Identifying staffing needs, conducting interviews, and ensuring proper training for all MSSP staff Participate in program evaluation and continuous quality improvement processes Maintain accurate records and complete all required reporting in compliance with TSSS funding and monitoring requirements Participate in supervision and team meetings as required Other duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS Lived and/or living experience of homelessness or housing precarity strongly preferred Post-secondary education in social work, community development, public policy, or related field, or equivalent combination of lived/professional and educational experience Minimum 35 years of experience in community-based work within homelessness, harm reduction, or peer-led programming Demonstrated experience in group facilitation and community engagement Strong understanding of harm reduction, trauma-informed, equity, anti-oppression, and service user-centered approaches Experience in program coordination, budgeting, and administrative oversight Knowledge of privacy legislation (MFIPPA), reporting requirements, and compliance standards Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to support diverse members with varying literacy levels and lived experiences Ability to work collaboratively with funders, system partners, and equity-deserving communities Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Computer literacy and comfort with documentation and reporting systems TNG is committed to reflecting the communities we serve and to nurturing a respectful and inclusive work environment for all.
