About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join the CarbonFree Group. This Ontario-based role will require on-site work in Northern Ontario in 2027 and 2028.You will be required to attend our midtown Toronto Office, but we can facilitate a virtual work environment in 2026. Youll play a key role in managing one of Ontarios largest utility-scale, single-axis Solar (PV) projects through construction. You and your team of direct reports will oversee the hiring and management of the EPC Contractor and its subcontractors over the 2- year project construction.You will be supported by our experienced, Toronto-based team, and you will lead planning and decision-making, with meaningful influence across the organization.This is a place for doers who roll up their sleeves, adapt quickly, and take pride in creating clarity, rigor, and trust through their work. Position Summary You will lead and oversee all phases of planning, permitting, procurement, construction, and commissioning of large-scale ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) energy projects. This role requires strong expertise in renewable energy project management, particularly utility-scale solar, to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget while meeting quality, safety, and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Lead the end-to-end project management lifecycle for utility-scale ground-mount solar PV projects (planning through commissioning). Develop, maintain, and execute detailed project schedules, budgets, and resource plans. Coordinate the onsite cross-functional team overseeing the EPC Contractor all support functions including engineering, procurement, construction, permitting, environmental compliance, and stakeholder relations. Manage contractors, subcontractors, and vendors, ensuring adherence to project specifications, timelines, and cost controls. Identify risks early, develop mitigation strategies, and resolve project issues efficiently. Ensure compliance and oversee quality assurance/control to meet safety, regulatory and contract standards. Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external teams. Lead project status reporting, documentation, and communication to senior management and stakeholders. Drive continuous improvement in project delivery processes and best practices. Qualifications Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in a senior Project Management role for complex, $25+ Million, multi-year projects, preferably within the electricity or energy sector. Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Renewable Energy, or related field. PMP Certification is highly preferred. Deep understanding of energy project construction best practices and a proven ability to successfully manage large capital projects. Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to large-scale energy construction projects. ground mount solar PV system design, construction methods, and permitting processes are highly preferred. Skills & Competencies: Strong leadership, interpersonal, analytical, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills. Excellent organizational, analytical, time-management and problem-solving capabilities with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficient with project management software and Microsoft Office suite. Proactive, collaborative team player with a can-do attitude and attention to detail. Ability to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines.
