Supply Chain Director West-Wood Industries / Norwood Windows & Doors Location: Scoudouc, New Brunswick (in person) Reports to: Vice President of Operations Direct Reports: Shipping Supervisor, Purchaser, Shipping/Shunting Team, Stockroom Attendant Environment: Manufacturing /Woodworking /Millwork/Trucking & Transportation Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Position Summary West-Wood Industries is seeking a hands-on Supply Chain Director to oversee end-to-end supply chain operations, including procurement, materials planning, and manufacturing coordination. This role also provides leadership for the Dispatcher/Shipping Supervisor, Purchaser, Shipper/Shunters and Stockroom Attendant. The position ensures efficient material flow into production and finished product delivery to customers across Canada and the US. Key Responsibilities Procurement & Materials Management - Oversee procurement & purchasing of specialty lumber, glass, hardware, finishes, packaging, and other production-related materials - Supervise the Purchaser and ensure strategic sourcing, competitive pricing, and reliable supply - Negotiate supplier contracts and maintain strong vendor relationships - Monitor product yield, waste, and material cost controls - Develop contingency sourcing strategies to mitigate supply disruptions Inventory & Production Coordination - Align material planning with production schedules for custom and standard window and door lines - Maintain optimal inventory levels for raw materials and critical components - Reduce stockouts, excess inventory, and production delays - Collaborate with manufacturing leadership to forecast demand and manage lead times - Assist in the development of an ERP system to ensure proper inventory management systems are in place Shipping & Distribution - Ensure accurate and on-time order fulfillment - Optimize load planning and delivery schedules - Maintain strong communication between procurement, shipping, production, and sales teams - Improve freight cost management and delivery reliability Leadership & Continuous Improvement - Lead cross-functional coordination between purchasing, production, and logistics - Track KPIs including: - On-time delivery - Freight cost per unit - Inventory turns - Supplier performance - Production material availability - Identify cost savings and operational efficiency opportunities - Support ERP/MRP system accuracy and reporting Qualifications - 5+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or manufacturing operations - Experience managing transportation fleets or logistics operations - Strong knowledge of manufacturing supply chain processes - Experience supervising procurement and shipping staff - Strong negotiation, analytical, and leadership skills - ERP/MRP system experience required - Fluent in English (required) - Fluent in French (an asset) Preferred Experience - Wood products, millwork, manufacturing or construction materials industry - Knowledge of ERP development is an asset - Knowledge of lumber grading and procurement - Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement background Work Environment This is a leadership role operating across office, manufacturing, yard, and transportation environments. The position requires daily coordination with production, purchasing, dispatch, and drivers to ensure seamless material flow and customer delivery.
