Job Overview: Our client is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead and grow their mechanical service operations team. Reporting to senior leadership, this role oversees field technicians, dispatch, quoting support, and service sales, while ensuring high levels of customer service, operational efficiency, and profitability. This is a leadership-focused position suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced service environment, enjoys mentoring teams, and is confident managing both the operational and commercial sides of a service division. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Management Lead, mentor, and support service technicians, dispatch, and office support staff Provide direction on scheduling, workload prioritisation, and operational challenges Conduct performance reviews and support employee development and training Promote a collaborative, professional, and safety-first culture Ensure adherence to company procedures, service standards, and documentation Service Operations Oversight Oversee daily scheduling and dispatch of technicians Support troubleshooting and decision-making on complex service issues Monitor job progress, ensuring timely completion of work orders and reports Ensure accurate and timely service documentation Review and approve service quotes, including complex repair proposals Coordination with Office & Sales Teams Work closely with dispatch to optimise technician utilisation Oversee quoting, work orders, and materials coordination Collaborate with service sales to support client relationships and growth opportunities Customer Relations Maintain strong relationships with commercial, institutional, and industrial clients Manage escalated service issues and ensure client satisfaction Identify opportunities for preventative maintenance and service upgrades Financial & Operational Performance Monitor service department KPIs including revenue, margins, and productivity Ensure accurate pricing and profitability across service work Identify and implement operational improvements Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with safety policies and industry regulations Support adherence to certification and security clearance requirements Qualifications: Red Seal Plumbing / Mechanical certification preferred (or equivalent experience) 510+ years of mechanical service experience Previous leadership or supervisory experience within a service environment Strong knowledge of plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical systems Experience managing field technicians and service teams Strong organisational and decision-making skills Excellent communication and customer service abilities Experience with service software (e.g., Jonas or similar) is considered an asset Valid Class 5 Drivers License Working Culture and Perks: Leadership role within a well-established and respected contractor Opportunity to build and shape a growing service division Collaborative and team-oriented environment Strong support from senior leadership and internal teams Long-term career growth and stability Compensation and Benefits: Salary range: $120,000 $160,000 (commensurate with experience) Comprehensive health and dental benefits Additional company perks and incentives Next Steps: If you are an experienced Service Manager with a background in mechanical service operations and leadership, Rightway Recruitment would like to hear from you.
