Position Summary: We are seeking a passionate, innovative, and experienced French Language Teacher to join our IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the PYP framework, a strong command of the French language, and a commitment to fostering a dynamic, inclusive, and inquiry-based learning environment for students from JK to Grade 8. Key Responsibilities: Curriculum Delivery Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging French language lessons aligned with IB PYP standards and the schools scope and sequence. Develop transdisciplinary units that encourage students to make connections between subjects and apply their learning in real-world contexts. Integrate language instruction into the transdisciplinary units of inquiry wherever possible. Foster a positive, communicative, and immersive French language environment in the classroom. Instructional Excellence Use a variety of teaching strategies to support different learning styles and abilities. Employ formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction. Encourage student agency, creativity, and critical thinking through interactive and authentic learning experiences. Assessment and Reporting: Conduct ongoing formative assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly. Prepare and maintain accurate records of student performance and provide detailed feedback to students and parents. Engage in regular summative assessments, ensuring alignment with IB PYP standards and the schools assessment policy. Classroom Environment & Student Support Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture. Build strong relationships with students to support their academic, social, and emotional development. Provide additional support for students who may need it, including differentiation and extra practice as required. Collaboration & Communication Collaborate with homeroom teachers, specialists, and the PYP Coordinator to ensure consistency in teaching and learning. Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, classroom activities, and French language development. Participate in school events, meetings, and professional development initiatives. Professional Commitment Stay up to date with developments in the IB PYP framework and best practices in language instruction. Reflect on and improve personal teaching practices through ongoing professional learning. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelors Degree in Education or equivalent; specialization in French or French Education preferred Fluency in French and English (oral and written) OCT certification or equivalent teaching credential IB PYP training and/or experience strongly preferred Minimum 5 years teaching French at the elementary level Key Competencies: Strong understanding of inquiry-based and student-centered learning Passion for teaching and working with young children Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Adaptability, creativity, and a collaborative spirit Commitment to continuous improvement and reflective practice The successful candidates will receive: Competitive salary and Benefits plan We thank all applicants in advance.
