Job Title Analytical Lab Technician III The Role Our site in Toronto, Canada is seeking an Analytical Lab Technician III to join our team and support the 24/7 operations of the production facility. This position is designed to cover the afternoon shift. The primary objective of this position is to perform accurate chemical analysis on routine and nonroutine raw materials, in process samples, and finished products according to written procedures. Due to the complex nature of sample matrices, this opportunity allows the right person to expand upon their technical skill set and participate on a dynamic team in a growing organization. Shift Details New hire will work afternoon shift, from 1:30pm to 10pm. Responsibilities Conduct chemical and/or physical analyses as defined by existing work instructions on routine and nonroutine samples using analytical instruments including NMR, GC, GC/MS, HPLC, IC, UVVis, NIR, KF, etc. Document, process, transfer, and review analytical data, calculations and observations to ensure completion, conformity, traceability, and validity, minimal variability and increased robustness and identifying trends or underlying issues. Recognize OOS or outoftrend results and, under the direction of the Manager, complete lab investigations. Promptly notify the lab manager of any observations or results that may impact the validity of data or reflect variability in the manufacturing process where applicable. Perform general maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment according to the departments established calibration program. Use proper controls for analytical instrumentation, validating, and verifying data and taking corrective action when necessary. Troubleshoot instrumentation and method problems with the Managers assistance. Use knowledge of GLP to assess impact on compliance and obtain supervisors assistance. Follow and improve safety guidelines and maintain a clean and orderly environment (5S Guidelines). Maintain ownership of the lab supplies inventory, organize and monitor minimum stock, and elevate the need for new purchase orders. Dispose waste samples and solvents following safety procedures, work instructions and policies. Support quality initiatives related to the customer, corporate objectives, quality planning, the quality policy, process improvement and new business goals and objectives. Expand upon personal job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, special project teams, and reading technical publications. Qualifications The ideal candidate will be resultsoriented, detailoriented, a team player, with knowledge of chemistry, good lab practices, and familiarity with the criticality of materials science in the semiconductor industry. Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Analytical Chemistry or related field. At least 2years of experience working in a chemical manufacturing environment and analyzing samples in a timely manner using NMR, KF, GC, HPLC, IC and GCMS. Knowledge and demonstration of proper safe handling and disposal of chemicals and ability to maintain a clean and safe workspace. Compile and present data and presentations to communicate data and other relevant information for continuous improvement, method development/validation, and other projects. Ability to multitask and balance independent work, teamwork, and time effectively. Dedication to meticulous attention to detail and organization. Strong dexterity, good eyehand coordination, and ability to safely perform routine repetitive motions. Willingness to work with potentially hazardous chemistries using industry standard safety protocols. Basic computer knowledge, including MS Office. Responsible for more than one project at a time. Handson experience with sample preparation techniques for complex matrices. Outstanding Candidates Will Have Lab instrument operations and maintenance experience for KF titration, GC/GCMS, IC/ICMS, LC, FTIR, NMR, ICPMS. Experience with semiconductor analytical method development requirements, such as protocols for determining instrument/method detection limits, accuracy, linearity, precision, and robustness. Intimate knowledge of instrument software controls to eliminate manual manipulation of data. Prior experience working in a chemical/gas manufacturing environment. Selfstarting leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively with crossfunctional teams and to face difficult and challenging situations.
