Location: Winkler, Manitoba Position Summary: As a key member of the Human Resources team, the HR Specialist is responsible for ensuring optimal staffing levels, training, performance management, labour and employee relations within the Winkler production facilities. Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Ensure that employment vacancies are filled with employees that support the goals of the department and the Company through effective recruitment and selection practices. Facilitate the on-boarding processes with new employees to enable them to perform their duties safely and effectively, and to be positive and enthusiastic employees. Facilitate and administer training programs, performance management systems, and effectively coach and counsel supervisors and employees to continuously improve operational performance. Ensure labour relations are effective to maximize long term productivity of all production activities, while supporting company values.This includes administration of grievance procedures and the Collective Agreement, and liaising with the Employees Association Executive. Encourage and promote positive and productive employee relations through effective communications between and within all levels of the organization. Coordinate and promote Company employee-oriented events and initiatives. Assist employees with payroll and benefits enquiries as they arise. Ensure that records and databases are accurate and current. Ensure administrative functions within the plant are performed effectively, including payroll, security and reception. Support and promote Safety and Health initiatives. Conduct all activities and execute all duties with enthusiasm and a positive, results-focused attitude. Support Company initiatives and policies enthusiastically. Other duties as assigned. Experience Required: Experience in Human Resources, preferably in a generalist capacity, including staffing, employee/labour relations, compensation, and HR metrics. Staffing experience is essential. Experience within a manufacturing environment or similar is preferred. Education Required: Ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Human Resources Management. Applicants with equivalent education or similar combined with applicable experience will also be considered. Skills and Attributes Required: Outstanding communication skills required, including both written and verbal. Proven ability to build credibility and strong partnerships at all levels. Very strong sense of urgency with record of following through to meet deadlines and commitments. Energetic, self motivated, creative and especially positive outlook. Proven ability to maintain confidences and ensure confidentiality of information and records. Understanding of current legislation and other aspects of employment and labour law. Knowledge of HR trends. Complete proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and other common applications. Successful candidate will be currently living in or planning to move to Winkler or the surrounding area.
