IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY Fractional Director of Human Resources (HR Head) Reports To: CFO Duration: 3 - 6 months (possible permanent) Location: North York, ON (hybrid) Our client is a Canadian not-for-profit, B2B service business with customers primarily within the retail and consumer goods space. Due to a recent restructuring, they are now in need of an Fractional Director of HR on an interim basis. A member of the management team, the Fractional Director of HR will lead all aspects of human resources including strategy, talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, compensation and benefits, organizational development, culture, compliance, and succession planning. The ideal candidate will be a people-first leader that inspires trust at all employee levels and that can operate both strategically and in-the-weeds. Key Accountabilities: Strategic HR Leadership Develop and implement a comprehensive HR strategy aligned with corporate objectives. Serve as a trusted advisor to the CFO and senior leadership team on organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and change management. Lead workforce planning to support program expansion and regulatory requirements across provinces. Review and update of HR policies, procedures and the employee handbook. Talent Acquisition & Retention Design and oversee effective recruitment strategies to attract top industry talent within services, compliance, operations, and corporate functions. Strengthen employer branding aligned with sustainability and purpose-driven work. Implement onboarding and retention initiatives that enhance employee engagement. Culture, Engagement & Organizational Development Champion a high-performance, inclusive, and collaborative culture. Lead employee engagement surveys and action planning. Lead management development programs and coaching initiatives. Support change management during organizational growth and program evolution. Compensation, Benefits & Total Rewards Oversee compensation strategy. Manage the benefits programs (health, dental, RRSP, etc.). Ensure compliance with provincial legislation. HR Operations & Compliance Ensure compliance with federal and provincial employment standards, health & safety legislation, and privacy requirements. Oversee HR policies, procedures, and employee relations matters. Manage performance management systems and disciplinary processes. Health, Safety & Wellness Support workplace safety programs in collaboration with operations. Promote employee wellness initiatives and mental health supports. Competencies and Requirements: Bachelors degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (masters degree considered an asset). CHRL/CHRE designation (or equivalent provincial certification) preferred. 8-10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role. Experience in environmental services, regulated industries or multi-jurisdictional organizations preferred. Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation across multiple provinces. Strategic thinker with strong business acumen. Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills. Experience leading through growth and organizational change. High emotional intelligence and ability to influence at executive and board levels. Strong commitment to sustainability and mission-driven work.
