Location: Hybrid 12 days per week on-site in Ottawa, ON Language: Bilingual (English and French) required; strong written and verbal communication skills Background Check Requirement: Successful completion of a criminal background check required About the Opportunity Our non-profit and regulatory client is seeking a Bilingual HR/Disability Advisor to join their People & Culture team. This role plays a key part in delivering a compliant and employee-centered HR function. The successful candidate will lead disability and leave management programs, support accommodation and return-to-work planning, oversee onboarding initiatives, and contribute to legislative compliance and HR program enhancement across multiple jurisdictions. Whats In It for You: Opportunity to support high-impact employee experience initiatives Exposure to multi-jurisdictional HR compliance and policy development Collaborative, values-driven workplace culture Hybrid work model offering flexibility Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits Responsibilities: Manage end-to-end administration of employee leaves, including short-term and long-term disability, pregnancy/parental leave, job-protected leaves, and unpaid leaves of absence Provide guidance and support to employees and leaders throughout the full leave lifecycle, including complex and sensitive matters Prepare and submit disability applications to insurance providers and liaise with case managers to ensure effective administration Develop and manage accommodation and return-to-work plans in collaboration with employees, leaders, disability providers, and HR stakeholders Accurately process all leave-related transactions within Workday, ensuring data integrity and compliance Analyze leave and HR data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for program improvements Lead and enhance onboarding and orientation programs, including facilitating sessions and monitoring completion of pre-hire tasks Monitor and research legislative changes across multiple jurisdictions and update policies and guidelines accordingly Collaborate with legal counsel to ensure compliance with Employment Standards, Human Rights, Occupational Health & Safety, and accessibility legislation Coordinate accessibility policy updates and multi-year accessibility planning, including regulatory reporting requirements Deliver HR compliance training, including Workplace Violence and Harassment Prevention programs Monitor mandatory legislative training completion and follow up with employees and leaders as required Qualifications: Minimum 5-7+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, with a focus on leave management and employee experience Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field CHRP or CHRL designation preferred Strong understanding of multi-jurisdictional employment legislation (Employment Standards, Human Rights, Occupational Health & Safety, accessibility legislation) Experience working with disability insurance providers considered a strong asset Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting HR data and identifying trends Proficiency with HRIS systems, preferably Workday Bilingual fluency in English and French (spoken and written) required Why Partner with Altis If youve never worked with a staffing agency before, dont worry we make it easy.
