Job Description

HRIS Project Manager, Consultant Employment Type : Contract (69 months) Location : Fully Remote Rate : $60-80/hr Industry : Software Position Type : New Role About the Opportunity Our client is a fast-growing software organization that acquires and supports specialized business software companies. Reporting to the Head of HR, the HRIS Project Manager (Consultant) will lead a critical initiative to design and implement a scalable HR operations foundation. You will drive the assessment and rollout of a new global HRIS, replacing manual, email-driven processes with structured, automated workflows across a growing portfolio of businesses. Partnering closely with HR leadership and a lean internal team, you will shape the HR technology roadmap, build the underlying infrastructure, and set up the function so it can be transitioned to a permanent operations owner. Key Responsibilities Lead and support a structured evaluation and selection process to identify the future-state HRIS platform (including comparison of at least two options). Develop clear selection criteria, scoring frameworks, and recommendations for leadership approval. Own end-to-end HRIS implementation project management, including configuration, data migration, testing, and workflow design. Oversee integration of the new HRIS with existing HR and people-related systems (e.g., applicant tracking, payroll, and current HR system during the transition). Configure and launch onboarding capabilities within the HR tech ecosystem to align with standardized, scalable processes. Review and document current HR processes, highlighting manual pain points, gaps, and opportunities to automate and streamline. Define and implement a logical document storage structure and standards for policies, job descriptions, organization charts, and compliance records. Design and operationalize a consistent, system-driven onboarding workflow for new hires across multiple regions. Support HR compliance efforts in key jurisdictions (including North America and the UK), identifying risks and helping establish documentation standards. Collaborate closely with a dedicated data entry / HRIS support resource who will manage day-to-day HRIS updates, reports, time-off administration, and payroll-related data flows. Work independently with minimal direction while proactively engaging HR leadership and stakeholders to maintain momentum and manage expectations. What You Bring Demonstrated experience leading HRIS evaluations and implementations for growing organizations. Proven track record managing HR technology projects end-to-end (from requirements and selection through configuration, testing, data migration, and go-live). Hands-on experience integrating HR systems with other people-related tools (e.g., applicant tracking, payroll, and existing HR platforms). Strong HR operations background, including process mapping, documentation, and building scalable, technology-enabled workflows. Experience establishing document management structures and standards for HR content and employee records. Familiarity with HR compliance considerations across multiple countries, particularly in North America and the UK. Ability to operate as an independent consultant: comfortable in ambiguous environments, able to prioritize deliverables, and skilled at influencing stakeholders without formal authority. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively in a remote environment with overlap in Pacific Time. Next Steps We do appreciate all interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
