OPEN TO CANADIAN RESIDENTS ONLY SGH Design Partners is looking for a talented full time Intermediate/Senior Designer to join our Halifax studio. Our studios operate as in-studio creative and collaborative environments. At SGH, you will join a team of curious and talented designers focused on corporate workplace design, along with an expanding portfolio in hospitality and multi family residential projects. You will collaborate directly with one or more of our partners, ensuring a high level of engagement, accountability, and design leadership throughout each project. The Position As an Intermediate/Senior Designer , you will collaborate with the project team to ensure design intent is translated into working drawings and documentation across all project phases, from pre-design through project close out. You will contribute to concept development, documentation, and project coordination while working closely with senior leadership and project teams. Depending on experience level, you may lead smaller projects or key components of larger, more complex projects. What You Bring Strong understanding of workplace design trends and culture-driven workplace strategies Demonstrated ability to contribute to mid-size/large-scale workplace projects Ability to manage project responsibilities independently or with minimal supervision Strong visualization and concept development skills, with the ability to translate design concepts into clear, detailed design solutions Strong/developing problem solving skills for technical, design, and implementation challenges Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage personal workflow Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a design team Commitment to knowledge sharing and contributing to team discussions and lessons learned sessions Familiarity with local building codes, accessibility standards, and sustainable design frameworks Knowledge of sustainable design principles (LEED, WELL, Fitwel, etc.) Key Responsibilities Contribute to the design dialogue across project phases and teams Apply knowledge of workplace design trends, visioning, and culture driven design strategies Participate in concept development for projects of varying scale and complexity Prepare and contribute to project documentation from pre-design through project close out Assist with or lead visioning sessions, documenting and analyzing outcomes Participate in client and consultant meetings and presentations Assist in preparing project budgets, schedules, and related project documentation Review and coordinate drawings internally and with engineering consultants Apply and coordinate building code and accessibility requirements within project documentation Prepare architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents with appropriate supervision/independence depending on experience level Participate in tender preparation and documentation review Support construction administration including site visits, deficiency reporting, change notices, and follow-up documentation Conduct site surveys, furniture inventories, and related documentation Participate in industry and SGH design events Report weekly to assigned Senior Designer/Team Lead on project progress Maintain accurate time tracking and project logs using Ajera Qualifications Degree or diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, or Architectural Technology 57 years design experience (Intermediate) OR 10+ years experience (Senior) within the local industry Working toward NCIDQ certification (Intermediate) OR NCIDQ certified (Senior level) Strong proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and design software, including Adobe Creative Suite Proficiency with SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and presentation software Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Experience in corporate workplace design or commercial sectors; hospitality experience is beneficial Canadian project design experience required Benefits Year round summer hours Vacation & personal time Comprehensive group benefits plan (medical, dental & extended health) Bi-weekly SGH team lunches Bi-weekly supplier lunch & learns Annual performance & career development mentorship Why SGH?
