Job description: Job Title: Procurement Planner Location: Milton, ON Tenure: Temporary, Full Time Schedule: M-F, 8AM-4PM Pay Rate: $30-$32.50/hr Position Overview: The primary function of this role is to ensure materials and components are procured efficiently to support the master production schedule and customer demand. This role will analyze requirements, plan and execute purchase orders, manage supplier performance, and ensure continuity of supply for both internally and externally sourced materials. The Procurement Planner will play a key role in optimizing inventory levels, supporting manufacturing operations, and driving procurement excellence across the site and satellite facilities. Essential Functions: Review material requirements and initiate purchase orders based on MRP signals and demand forecasts. Attend escalation and production meetings to resolve supply issues and prevent shortages. Provide timely status updates on open purchase orders and delivery commitments in weekly order status meetings. Release, expedite, defer, or cancel purchase orders through the MRP workbench. Analyze supplier schedules and reschedule POs to ensure on-time delivery while maintaining inventory targets. Review excess, obsolete (E&O), and slow-moving inventory; drive reduction strategies such as returns, reallocation, reuse, or disposal. Process supplier non-conformance reports and support dispositioning activities where responsible. Review MRP exception messages and adjust purchase order actions accordingly. Periodically review demand history to recommend changes to stocking strategies, reorder points, and min-max levels. Maintain and update procurement-related kanban systems where applicable. Monitor and resolve invoice discrepancies in collaboration with suppliers and Accounts Payable. Provide forecast and schedule visibility to suppliers to support long-term capacity planning. Allocate and prioritize material supply based on approved methods to support customer delivery requirements. Support cycle counting, inventory adjustments, and root cause analysis to eliminate future procurement-related errors. Analyze inventory performance and ensure Days-on-Hand (DOH) objectives are met. Support plant initiatives in lean manufacturing, safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Manage or support supplier performance improvement initiatives with a focus on delivery reliability and quality. Participate in Annual Physical Inventory. Required (Basic) Qualifications: High school diploma. Minimum of two years of experience in procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or a related production support role. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum 2 years of experience working with an MRP/ERP system. Experience in a design-for-manufacturing or engineered-to-order environment. Experience with Lean and Six Sigma tools; Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt is an asset. APICS/ASCM certification or actively pursuing certification.
