Were hiring a Corporate Counsel to support our HR, Operations, Finance, and Development teams by providing practical, businessfocused legal guidance. Position Overview As Corporate Counsel, you will support employment and labour matters, commercial contracts, realestate files, compliance, and external counsel coordination. Youll provide timely guidance to leaders, assist with sensitive issues, and help build the processes and tools that reduce risk and support Steelcons growth across both our construction and development operations. Employment & Labour Provide guidance to HR and leaders on employment matters, performance management, documentation, and policy application. Support investigations, accommodations, and sensitive employee issues. Assist with labourrelations topics and unionrelated compliance. Maintain employmentrelated agreements, templates, and policies. Commercial & Corporate Review, draft, and support negotiations for commercial agreements, vendor/service contracts, and projectrelated documents. Coordinate with external counsel on commercial matters, employment issues, and constructionrelated claims or disputes. Support insurance, incident reporting, and riskmanagement activities across projects and operations. Maintain corporate templates, standard terms, and documentation to ensure consistency and compliance. Construction, Real Estate & Development Support constructionrelated legal matters, including project contracts, disputes, and coordination with external counsel. Manage realestate and development documents, including leases, agreements, and duediligence materials. Handle Construction Liens (placing and vacating) and prepare Minutes of Settlement with clients, trades, or suppliers. Ensure compliance with the Prompt Payment Act, including timelines, notices, and adjudication requirements. Governance & Compliance Support corporate filings, documentation, and governance processes. Monitor legislative changes and help update policies and practices. Maintain organized legal records, templates, and administrative systems. Training & Advisory Support Provide practical guidance managers can act on across HR, Operations, and Development. Support the creation of quickreference guides, checklists, and training sessions. Contribute to building consistent, scalable processes across the organization. Qualifications LL.B./J.D. and member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario. Manufacturing, construction, or commercial realestate experience is preferred. 24 years of employment law experience; exposure to commercial or realestate matters is an asset. Strong drafting and communication skills with the ability to simplify complex issues. Organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced environment. Solid understanding of employment legislation and general corporate legal concepts.
