Role Overview: Our Toronto office is currently seeking an Intermediate eDiscovery & Litigation Case Manager to join our Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice, reporting to the Assistant Director of Paralegals and Law Clerks. The ideal candidate will be an organized and eager professional who possesses great client service skills and a strong work ethic. This role involves intensive eDiscovery work with some traditional law clerk responsibilities, managing litigation matters from inception to trial. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong technical skills and passion for electronic evidence, to join an incredible team. The successful candidate will be responsible for: Managing evidence including assisting clients with the identification, preservation and collection of documents, managing the review, production and presentation of evidence. Preparing project plans and budgets. Drafting Costs Outlines and Bill of Costs. Reviewing and responding to correspondence, interfacing with legal teams and clients directly. Assisting with the preparation of Examinations for Discovery, mediations, motions. Summarizing discovery transcripts and preparing lists of undertakings and refusals and management of answers. Drafting and assembling legal documents which may include pleadings, pre-trial conference memos, mediation briefs, motion records, affidavits, etc. Assisting with arbitration or trial preparation including, organizing and preparing trial exhibits, trial notebooks and binders, scheduling, coordinating and communicating with clients, experts and fact witnesses. The successful candidate must have the following education, experience and/or demonstrated skills: A minimum of 7+ years experience working as an eDiscovery law clerk in a law firm. Law Clerk certification from an accredited institute or commensurate experience. Experience with eDiscovery databases such as Reveal, iPro Eclipse and Case Centre. Experience with large document management matters in an electronic format. Knowledge of eDiscovery best practices, procedures, and technology. Computer literate with strong working knowledge of legal software and standard software. Ability to work independently and assume ownership of the file. Excellent interpersonal skills and responsiveness. Outstanding time management, prioritization and organizational skills. Strong critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills. Ability to work proactively with lawyers to manage deadlines. Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) including the ability to manage clients, and all levels of lawyers and legal professionals. Maturity, consistency of approach and ability to relate to all levels of lawyers and legal professionals.
