Title: Director of Construction Location: Mississauga, Ontario About the Company A leading renewable energy technology company specializing in solar infrastructure and engineered mounting systems is seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Construction to lead its construction services team. This pivotal leadership role oversees the execution of construction programs across multiple renewable energy projects, ensuring high-quality installations, strong client relationships, and operational excellence. The Director of Construction will supervise senior project leadership and coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget. Key Responsibilities Manage the full program lifecycle of solar racking and related infrastructure projects, including carport systems, single-axis tracker installations, and EV charging infrastructure. Oversee projects from inception through completion, ensuring alignment with customer requirements, timelines, and quality standards. Lead cross-functional teams to deliver projects across design, engineering, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning phases. Establish project schedules, budgets, and performance targets while ensuring consistent execution. Work closely with engineering teams to develop and improve racking designs, installation processes, and cost structures. Review and validate design concepts to ensure they meet technical specifications and customer requirements. Coordinate drawing revisions, engineering changes, and design updates requested by clients. Support continuous improvement initiatives across product design, manufacturing, and installation processes. Coordinate activities with vendors, tooling partners, and suppliers to ensure cost, quality, and delivery targets are achieved. Travel to project sites to work directly with customers, resolve issues, and provide feedback to engineering teams. Maintain strong relationships with project stakeholders including clients, subcontractors, and internal teams. Ensure projects meet budget, schedule, and quality targets. Support development of project cost estimates, quotations, and tooling budgets for prototype and production phases. Oversee management of Bills of Materials (BOM), costing, pricing updates, and process changes. Ensure manufacturing and installation processes meet targeted performance objectives. Lead and mentor local project teams and regional leads. Facilitate cross-functional project meetings and maintain accountability for milestones and deliverables. Support team training, development, and performance management. Contribute to business growth initiatives and support the commercial team when required. Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards. Maintain adherence to company operational procedures and health & safety programs. Travel to project sites, client meetings, and industry events as required. Experience and Requirements Bachelors degree in Project Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field A minimum of 7 years experience in project management preferably in the solar industry, or foundation installation and related fields Experience managing projects from design through construction and commissioning Strong knowledge of construction practices, subcontractor coordination, and site execution Experience managing budgets, cost controls, and project schedules Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities Knowledge of construction codes, regulations, and industry best practices PMP certification is considered an asset but not required Additional experience with foundation technologies or large-scale infrastructure installation is advantageous.
