As a start-up organization, we pride ourselves on a collaborative, entrepreneurial spirit, and a commitment to operational excellence, environmental responsibility, and safety at all levels of our business.Position SummaryWe are seeking a knowledgeable and driven Field Maintenance Manager to oversee facility reliability, asset integrity, and execution of small capital projects at our thermal oil sands operation in Alberta. This is a field-based leadership role accountable for safe, efficient, and cost-effective upkeep of production infrastructure, while also managing brownfield modifications and supporting mechanical integrity programs.The ideal candidate will bring a combination of field experience, technical capability, and leadership skills to ensure reliable operations, strong contractor performance, and compliance with regulatory and internal standards.As a small organization, this is a hands-on, field-focused role that requires the ability to work independently while engaging constructively with various internal groups, external vendors, and regulatory bodies.Key ResponsibilitiesDirect and oversee day-to-day facility maintenance programs, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls systems.Take a lead role in maintaining the facility's integrity management program, ensuring compliance with ABSA, AER, and company standards for pressure equipment and pipelines.Plan and execute small capital and brownfield projects from scope development through to commissioning, in alignment with operations and engineering priorities.Manage the sites preventive and corrective maintenance program, optimizing equipment availability and minimizing downtime.Develop and control maintenance and small project budgets; forecast costs and manage spending within approved limits.Coordinate scheduling and resource planning for maintenance and project activities, ensuring alignment with production requirements.Support Management of Change (MOC) processes for all physical modifications to the facility.Oversee CMMS administration, work order tracking, and asset performance metrics.Provide field leadership to trades and contractors, ensuring work is executed safely and in accordance with applicable standards.Participate in inspections, audits, incident investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives related to maintenance and integrity.Qualifications & ExperienceRed Seal certification in a relevant trade (Millwright, Instrumentation, Electrician, etc.) or Engineering Technologist, or Engineer.Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in facility maintenance within the energy sector or similar heavy industrial environments.Proven track record in managing maintenance activities in remote or field-based settings.Strong experience in budgeting, scheduling, and cost control.Familiarity with brownfield project execution and integration with live operations.Solid understanding of MOC processes, regulatory compliance, and safety programs.Proficient in maintenance planning tools and CMMS.Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.Valid Class 5 drivers license and ability to work in a field-based rotation or full-time schedule.Working ConditionsRole is field-based at the Algar Lake thermal oil sands facility in northern Alberta.Site travel or residence on rotational or steady-state basis.Competitive compensation and benefits provided commensurate with experience.Why Join Us?Be part of a foundational team in a growth-oriented energy company.Play a key role in shaping operational excellence and safety culture from day one.Competitive compensation package, including salary, benefits, and performance-based incentives.A unique opportunity to make a tangible impact in the Canadian energy sector.How to ApplyInterested candidates are encouraged to submit their resume and cover letter outlining relevant experience and qualifications to Please include Maintenance Manager in the subject line.We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
