Toronto Metropolitan Universitys School of Medicine has been designed from the ground up to shift the paradigm of healthcare delivery and improve the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities. The Opportunity The School of Medicine is seeking a Manager, Learner Affairs to lead, develop, execute and evaluate the Learner Affairs Unit (LAU), its programming and the supports that the unit provides to all School of Medicine learners. Committed to exemplary student service and learner wellbeing, the Manager supervises a staff team responsible for delivering a range of services including career advising, financial literacy programming, orientation, wellness initiatives, mentorship programs and support related to mistreatment reporting and response. The role also promotes learner engagement with LAU services and raises awareness of supports available across the School of Medicine, TMU and the broader community. These efforts aim to support learners wellbeing, personal development and success throughout their medical education. In collaboration with faculty, including the Assistant Dean of Learner Affairs, the Manager also contributes to designing and implementing initiatives that support learners and student groups who have been historically underrepresented and underserved in medical education. Preferably a Masters degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology or related experience. A minimum of 5 years experience supporting postsecondary learners health and wellness, especially those with disabilities and from equitydeserving and underrepresented groups. Equivalent experience or a combination of equivalent experience and education may be accepted in place of education. Experience in and skills that deliver effective problemsolving and crisis management skills. Experience supervising staff, strong leadership and teambuilding skills, with demonstrated ability to lead and manage a diverse team. Previous experience in medical or health education is considered an asset. Experience in providing counseling to professional or advanced postsecondary education learners. Experience providing support and services to learners with disabilities is considered an asset. Skills in budgeting, financial and human resource management. Demonstrated experience working closely with learners to develop and implement initiatives designed to promote an inclusive and welcoming learning environment. Demonstrated experience creating programming that fosters inclusivity and diversity. Comprehensive computer skills (e.g. Microsoft office software, email etc.).
