As our new Mining Engineer , you will play an important role on a team whose work is essential to achieving this goal. Role Whether you are at the intermediate, senior, or principal level, youll play a key role in the growth of our mining advisory business and team. Youll focus on all aspects of mine operations life cycle including planning, design, management, closure, and reprocessing. Well look to you to bring experience and understanding of current industry trends and guidelines on design, estimation, planning, as well as interest in working collaboratively to find solutions to complex and interesting problems. Success in this role will require exceptional written and verbal communication skills, the ability to work independently and effectively with co-workers, clients, and contractors, and a safety-first attitude. Responsibilities Maintain industry leading standards for mining engineering work Working with limited supervision, develop mine designs based on the information gathered or provided, depending upon the needs of the client and the scope of the project assigned Underground optimization (using Deswik or similar specialist software) and mine design, lifeofmine scheduling and Mineral Reserve estimation using current mine planning and scheduling software packages Estimation of project capital and operating costs and financial modeling and analysis Preliminary Economic Assessments, scoping, prefeasibility, and feasibility studies Assessment, due diligence and technical auditing/review of mines and projects Project management Report writing and client presentations Support business development across the team and wider business Working @ SLR With us, there is no doubt youll grow your subjectmatter expertise and industry knowledge. Final agreed upon compensation will be commensurate with individual education, professional designation, experience, internal parity, and location. Fulltime, permanent role with opportunities for professional growth and advancement Qualifications Postsecondary degree in mining, civil, or geotechnical engineering Minimum of five years experience at operating mines, with preference given to candidates who have worked in both underground and open pit mines Familiar with international and public disclosure and reporting codes, including NI 43101, JORC, SAMREC, Competent Persons Reports, and Mineral Expert Reports etc. Experience with mine planning Expert user of at least one industry standard optimization, mine design and scheduling software package such as Datamine, Deswik, Vulcan, and Surpac. Registered as a P. Eng (Professional Engineer) in Canada Travel will be required, including to international destinations. A valid passport is a requirement. Fluency in any of Spanish/French/Portuguese languages would be advantageous This job posting is for an existing vacancy.
