Working in our fast paced, forward-thinking office, our projects are guaranteed to challenge your knowledge. Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will lead the full cycle estimating process through collaboration with the estimating support and project management team. The Estimator will work well under pressure to meet tender deadlines and must be able to work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills while being a strong, dependable team player who is confident, thorough, and able to see a project through to completion. As our ideal candidate, you have previous experience estimating and managing selfperformed work activities and subcontracted work. You are proficient with computer software used in the construction industry - HeavyBid experience would be considered an asset. Ideally, you understand the means and methods of civil construction associated with commercial and residential earthwork and infrastructure development. You possess working knowledge of civil earthworks and of the costs of goods and services, with demonstrated ability to solicit, evaluate, and manage the price, schedule, and quality objectives of individual projects. Key Duties & Responsibilities Monitor online tendering data sources, current projects consultants are working on, and annual municipal budgets Estimating - complete take offs, obtain material and subcontractor pricing, finalize selfperformed labour, equipment, and materials for each estimate Prepare and finalize tender packages for review with management prior to submittal Technical - utilize skills to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and operate all proprietary and relevant computer software. Adapt to new and innovative technological implementations Assist Project Management by preparing change orders and monitoring trends Build on existing and create new longterm subcontractor and supplier relationships Assist potential clients and consultants with budgetary pricing on future projects Manage, build on, and maintain positive client/supplier relationships Requirements Must have Civil and/or landscape experience, (CET or LAT) an asset Minimum 8 years local experience in a similar role Experience with estimating software with a preference for HeavyBid Experience with proposal writing Experience with takeoffs with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar software Advanced Microsoft Office skills Analytical problemsolving skills Strong written and verbal communication Team player, ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with colleagues, managers, and partners Minimum class 5 drivers license with an acceptable abstract The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
