We are looking for two Electrical Design Engineers, where your engineering judgment and technical leadership will support the design, maintenance, and modernization of the TTCs electrical systems. Reporting to the Assistant Manager, you will prepare engineered calculations and specifications, develop and review MicroStation drawings, troubleshoot design issues, and provide professional approval in accordance with PEO requirements. You will also coordinate consultant work, oversee testing and commissioning activities, and ensure all assigned engineering deliverables are completed to the highest standard. What You Will Do? Lead electrical engineering design for maintenance, rehabilitation, and upgrades to TTC electrical systems, including complex calculations, circuit design, and preparation of technical specifications. Produce, review, and approve engineering drawings using MicroStation, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and readiness for manufacturing and installation. Develop design reports, technical documentation, cost estimates, project budgets, cashflows, and Commission reports, maintaining strong costcontrol and reporting discipline. Review shop drawings, technical proposals, tenders, and consultant submissions for compliance with TTC standards and project requirements. Oversee testing, inspection, and commissioning of electrical systems, ensuring adherence to engineering standards and PEO professional responsibility requirements. Coordinate electrical projects by preparing project scopes, justifications, schedules, and status updates, and by liaising with internal teams, consultants, contractors, and suppliers. Supervise installation, inspection, and commissioning activities for electrical equipment and systems, monitoring progress and ensuring quality and compatibility across departments. Manage consultant and contractor work, including coordination, oversight, and performance review. Investigate, evaluate, and test new or existing electrical systems and components, providing recommendations based on operational needs and system performance. Support procurement activities by preparing terms of reference, evaluating proposals, and participating in tender assessments. Conduct field inspections of electrical projects delivered by internal teams, consultants, and suppliers to ensure compliance and quality. University degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, electrical design methods, and systems used in complex infrastructure environments. Proficiency with Bentley MicroStation CADD for preparing and reviewing technical drawings. Solid understanding of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and relevant codes, standards, and regulations (CSA, OBC, TTC standards). Strong analytical, problemsolving, technical writing, and communication skills, with sound engineering judgment. Computer literacy with proficiency in MS Office and related engineering applications. Experience reviewing, checking, and approving electrical designs prepared by internal teams or external consultants. Ability to collaborate effectively with technical staff, trades personnel, suppliers, manufacturers, and regulatory agencies. Ability to work independently within established engineering practices, exercising initiative in testing, evaluating, and troubleshooting systems.
