Role: Contracts Specialist Salary Range: $70,000 - $100,000 Structure: Full-Time Location: Hybrid (Toronto, ON) Hours: Business hours (Monday Friday) Canerector is a group of over 50 companies that design and manufacture industrial products across a wide range of industries. Overview The Contracts Specialist will be a member of the legal team at Canerector and will provide commercial contract support to Canerector and its companies. Responsibilities Review, analyze, and revise a wide range of commercial agreements, including customer contracts, vendor contracts, terms and conditions, NDAs, master service agreements (MSAs), long term agreements (LTAs) and distribution agreements. Draft new contracts and contract templates to support the operational needs of multiple affiliated companies within the organization. Negotiate contract terms with external parties to achieve commercially reasonable outcomes while protecting the interests of the organization. Collaborate with internal stakeholders (business leaders, finance, operations, and legal advisors) to understand business objectives and ensure contracts align with company policies and risk tolerance. Identify legal, financial, and operational risks within contracts and recommend appropriate revisions or mitigation strategies. Ensure contracts comply with applicable laws, regulations, and internal corporate policies. Track key contractual obligations, renewal dates, and termination deadlines and provide timely notifications to relevant stakeholders. Develop and maintain standardized contract templates, clauses, and playbooks to improve efficiency and consistency across affiliated companies. Provide guidance to internal teams on contract terms, negotiation strategies, and contracting best practices. Support the implementation and improvement of contract management processes and systems. Coordinate with external legal counsel when specialized legal advice or review is required. Support dispute resolution and contract interpretation when issues arise with counterparties. Qualifications Bachelors degree Bilingual would be an asset Experience Minimum of 3-5 years of in-house or law firm experience as a contracts manager or contracts specialist Exceptional attention to detail Strong organizational skills Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Adobe and PowerPoint Experience with Legal AI tools would be an asset Experience with Ticketing System applications/software (experience with Zendesk would be an asset) Fast learner with the ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment
