Director of Operations Professional Services | Architecture & Interior Design Location: Ottawa, Ontario (Only) I Remote & Onsite work schedule Position Overview: The Operations Director will be responsible for ensuring that the firm runs as a well-structured and financially sound professional services practice. Key responsibilities include oversight of: Financial performance of projects Contract administration and operational risk management Staffing strategy, resource allocation, and capacity planning Development of internal systems, workflow standards, and process automation Financial reporting, forecasting, and invoicing processes Firm-wide profit and loss visibility Internal performance tracking and accountability metrics This leadership role plays a critical part in improving delivery consistency, operational efficiency, and long-term profitability. The ideal candidate will bring: 10+ years of operations or business management experience in a professional services environment Strong financial acumen, particularly with time-based billing and margin management Proven experience developing and implementing operational systems Familiarity with the architecture, design, or construction industry Strong communication skills and the ability to lead teams with clear accountability Experience working within founder-led organizations Experience working in large corporations Has a business degree or certification Understanding of AI-enabled workflows and operational tools is considered an asset Fluency in English and French This is not a design role, but a strategic leadership position focused on operations and performance.
