Position Overview As MCAP DFG continues to experience a period of sustained growth they are currently seeking a seasoned and business-minded leader to join their Investment Management team as a Senior Director. Reporting to Senior Vice President, this role is responsible for maintaining a strong working relationship between MCAPs Strategic and Third-Party Investors and the firms origination and funding teams by acting as the portfolio manager for all DFG loans. The Senior Director will review all loans proposed for MCAPs direct lending programs and will take a proactive role in monitoring the status of the portfolio, including site visits, discussions with the branches, reviewing amendments and monitoring advances/sales as needed. Importantly, this individual will work closely with originators to help structure loans, provide feedback and to lend guidance on investor strategies. This is an exciting opportunity for a construction finance professional with 10+ years of experience lending and/or adjudication experience to impact and drive deal flow and the collaboration between investors and borrowers. Role Responsibilities Work with the SVP and the Loan Allocation & Review Committee (ILAC) in establishing volume targets for the MCAP capital programs and monitoring targets on a quarterly basis. Review and adjudicate Term Sheets submitted to ensure proper allocation of loans among MCAPs Strategic Investors and/or that the loan qualifies under applicable MCAP capital programs. Review and submit loan submissions to Credit Committee recommending MCAPs investment in loans and Identify loan purchases/sales, recommend purchases to Credit Committee, and execute as required. Approve non-material amendments, extensions or funding variances on behalf of MCAP as the investor relating to Commitment Letter changes, funding variances/relaxations, and partial discharge amounts, and determine when elevation is required. Review and execute servicing agreements, interlender agreements or other documentation pertaining to loan syndications among investors. Cultivate Strategic Investor and/or Third-Party relationships via regular communication and maintain knowledge of investor requirements and desired product to ensure originators are targeting products that fit investor programs. Manage allocation of loan opportunities fairly amongst investors, including MCAP as an investor, or advise/assist to source via Third party investors where applicable. Maintain expert knowledge of the overall loan portfolio with the ability to accurately respond to investor and/or internal inquiries in a timely manner. Review of monthly and quarterly investor reporting to ensure accuracy and identify potential issues. Work closely with MCAPs funding team to address questions or issues that arise during the funding process and to sign off on advances as required. Take a lead position in default management files and an active role in all monitored loans and coordinate with Investors, Borrowers and counsel to create and implement workout strategies. Desired Qualifications 10+ years of experience in construction & development finance lending and/or adjudication, preferably in the private lending space. Experience in mortgage administration/funding and loan syndications and knowledge of CMHC construction and term funding programs would be beneficial. Excellent verbal and writing skills to interface with all levels of the organization is a requirement, ensuring clear & concise reporting. Proven capability to make well-reasoned and logical business decisions in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
