Role Overview Were looking for an organized and outgoing Consumer Activations Supervisor to join our team on a seasonal contract. In this role, youll help bring Tourism Burnaby into the community by leading our mobile visitor activations at festivals, sporting events, and community gatherings throughout the spring and summer. Youll be responsible for overseeing on-site activations, supervising interns and event staff, engaging with attendees, and ensuring each activation reflects Tourism Burnabys brand and creates a welcoming experience for visitors and residents alike. Youll work closely with the Senior Manager, Festivals & Events and collaborate with our marketing team to ensure our activations support broader marketing goals and deliver strong engagement. Key Responsibilities: OnSite Activation & Operations Plan and execute the setup and takedown of the activation at community events and festivals. Adjust layouts based on space, crowd flow, and weather conditions. Maintain a welcoming presence and guide interns and support staff during each activation. Audience Engagement & Data Collection Invite visitors to complete brief signups and microsurveys using QR codes or tablets. Ensure accurate data capture and maintain organized records for postevent reporting. Share observations and insights from each activation with the team. Driving and Vehicle Stewardship Drive Tourism Burnabys mobile visitor van to and from event sites, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Perform pretrip checks, maintain logs, and coordinate parking and access with event organizers. Team Supervision Assign roles to interns, summer students, and support runners, ensuring they follow engagement prompts and our brand values. Provide direction and troubleshoot on-site issues as they arise. Swag & Inventory Management Distribute giveaways and manage inventory levels, keeping the activation kit organized and replenished. Ensure all assets are cleaned and stored properly between events. Content Capture & Reporting Assist with social media by capturing photos and short videos during activations. Complete event reports and support monthly internal reporting. Qualifications and Desired Skills: Required: Valid BCClass5 drivers licence with a clean driving record. At least 2-3 years of experience in event activations, festivals, community outreach, or hands-on marketing roles. Ability to manage on-site event operations, including setup, staff coordination, and problem-solving. Friendly and confident communicator who enjoys engaging with the public and leading a team. Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions and able to lift/carry event equipment. Organized with basic reporting skills and proficiency in MSOffice. Desired (nice to have): Familiarity with QRbased lead capture and simple surveys. Comfortable taking photos and short videos on a smartphone. Knowledge of Burnabys community events and local venues. Working Conditions & Compensation: Employment Term: Seasonal temporary position from May to August 2026 (approximately 4 months). Hours will vary based on the event calendar, with peak activity during major festivals and lighter periods between events. An estimated average of approximately 80 hours per month. Schedule: Primarily weekends and occasional weekdays. Early mornings and evenings may be required depending on event schedules. Availability for the majority of scheduled activations and key festival dates is expected. Tourism Burnaby will provide the full list of confirmed activation dates in advance so applicants can clearly see the expected work schedule for the season. Compensation: $28 per hour Environment: This role involves working outdoors at busy public events, representing Tourism Burnaby and engaging with residents and visitors. Training and support will be provided to help you succeed.
