Position Overview The Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, detailed cost estimates for commercial, industrial and multifamily construction projects. This role involves interpreting drawings, analyzing project specifications, coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers, and supporting tender submissions from early design through final pricing. The Estimator plays a key role in helping project teams develop competitive bids, control costs, and ensure alignment with project scope and client expectations. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labour, equipment, and subcontracted scopes based on drawings, specifications, and contract documents. Conduct quantity takeoffs and develop pricing using historical data, vendor quotes, and market cost information. Solicit and review subcontractor and supplier quotations , ensuring accuracy, scope alignment, and competitive pricing. Support tendering processes , including preparing bid forms, clarifications, addenda reviews, and submission documentation. Maintain and update cost databases , supplier lists, labour rates, and product costing to support future estimates. Review addenda, change orders, and revised drawings to update estimates, pricing, and project cost forecasts. Prepare cost reports, summaries, and forecasting documents for stakeholder review Qualifications Experience preparing cost estimates for commercial, industrial, civil, or multifamily construction projects. Strong ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical data across multiple disciplines. Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, OnScreen Takeoff, CostX) and MS Office. Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills. Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple bids simultaneously. Strong communication and negotiation skills when working with subcontractors and suppliers.
