About the Role Prima Living is seeking an experienced Director of Human Resources Labour Relations to provide strategic leadership and expert guidance across our senior residence operations in Ontario. This role leads the organizations HR programs including labour relations, talent acquisition, employee relations, compliance, leadership development, and workforce planning. The Director acts as a strategic partner to the executive team and residence leadership to ensure the organization attracts, develops, and retains the talent required to deliver exceptional resident care and hospitality. The position is particularly focused on supporting a large, frontline workforce including clinical, hospitality, and operations staff within the retirement living sector. This role is ideal for a seasoned HR leader with deep experience in labour relations within senior living, long-term care, or residential care environments, who thrives in complex operational settings and enjoys partnering with leaders to resolve challenging workplace matters. What Youll Do Strategic HR Leadership Develop and implement the HR strategy aligned with PRIMA Livings growth and operational priorities. Serve as a trusted advisor to the executive leadership team and residence Executive Directors. Provide leadership and oversight for HR policies, procedures, and best practices across all residences. Support organizational growth initiatives including acquisitions, integrations, and operational scaling. Labour Relations Lead labour relations strategy including collective agreement administration where applicable. Act as lead advisor on grievance management, disciplinary matters, and dispute resolution. Support collective bargaining processes and negotiations. Provide guidance to operational leaders on labour relations best practices and risk mitigation. Manage arbitration processes and liaise with external labour counsel as required. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning Develop recruitment strategies to attract qualified clinical, hospitality, and operations staff. Partner with residence leadership to address workforce shortages and staffing stability. Implement workforce planning initiatives to support operational growth. Oversee employer branding and recruitment programs across Ontario. Employee Relations & Engagement Lead employee relations programs that promote a respectful, inclusive, and high-performing workplace. Manage complex employee relations matters including investigations, discipline, and terminations. Oversee employee engagement initiatives and organizational culture programs. Support leadership teams in performance management and coaching. HR Operations & Compliance Ensure compliance with Ontario employment legislation including: Employment Standards Act Human Rights Code Occupational Health and Safety Act Privacy legislation Maintain and update HR policies and governance frameworks. Oversee HR systems, payroll coordination, and benefits programs. Monitor HR metrics and provide workforce analytics to leadership. Leadership Development & Organizational Culture Design and implement leadership development programs for residence management teams. Support succession planning across operational leadership roles. Promote a culture aligned with PRIMA Livings mission of delivering exceptional resident experiences. Lead change management initiatives related to organizational transformation or growth. What You Bring 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with significant focus on labour and employee relations Direct experience supporting senior residences, long-term care, or healthcare environments (required) Strong knowledge of Ontario employment and labour legislation Proven experience leading workplace investigations and complex employee relations cases CHRL designation preferred Knowledge & Skills Strong knowledge of Ontario labour and employment legislation. Experience advising senior leaders in operational environments with large frontline workforces. Excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, and communication skills. Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on operational support. Experience supporting organizational growth or acquisitions is an asset.
