Job Description

Role: Purchasing & Inventory Planning Lead Reports to: Chief Operating Officer Location: Hybrid in Vaughan(with regular coordination across warehouse and logistics teams) Purpose of the Role: Own purchasing execution and inventory planning to ensure the right product is available in the right place at the right timewithout tying up unnecessary cash or incurring avoidable storage and logistics costs. This role sits at the intersection of demand, supply, warehousing, and logistics, with accountability for inventory health end-to-end. Core Responsibilities Purchasing & Supplier Coordination Own purchase order creation, timing, and quantities based on demand forecasts and inventory targets. Coordinate with suppliers on production timelines, shipment readiness, and documentation. Track inbound inventory from factory to port to final destination. Inventory Planning & Allocation Translate demand forecasts into inventory plans by SKU, site, and channel. Decide where inventory should land (internal sites, 3PLs, cross-dock, overflow storage) to minimize total cost. Actively manage overstock risk and aging inventory, especially post-ocean arrival. Inbound & Storage Cost Optimization Minimize dwell time at ports, transload facilities, and interim storage. Optimize container utilization and inbound shipment timing. Partner with Logistics and Warehouse to reduce storage fees, congestion, and handling costs. Inventory Health & Controls Own inventory targets (weeks of supply, safety stock, reorder points). Monitor aging inventory, slow movers, and excess stock. Partner with Finance on inventory valuation, reserves, and cash planning. Cross-Functional Collaboration Work closely with Warehouse Managers on receiving capacity and space planning. Coordinate with Logistics on inbound routing and delivery timing. Align with CX and Sales on availability risks and launch timing. What Success Looks Like Product availability stays high without ballooning inventory. Storage, demurrage, and overflow costs are controlled and predictable. Overstock is identified early and managed proactively. Inventory decisions are deliberate, not reactive. COO is not arbitrating inventory placement decisions. Key Requirements Experience 58 years in purchasing, inventory planning, or supply chain operations. Experience managing inbound ocean freight and multi-site inventory. Familiarity with demand forecasting and inventory planning concepts. Skills & Capabilities Strong analytical and planning skills. Comfortable balancing service level, cost, and cash tradeoffs. Highly organized with strong follow-through. Able to operate cross-functionally without formal authority over all parties. Working Style Thinks in systems, not silos. Proactive about risks and constraints. Decisive with incomplete information. Calm when volumes spike or timelines shift. Growth Path This role can evolve into Head of Supply Chain, Director of Inventory Planning, or broader operations leadership as the company scales.
