About the position Title: Assistant Professor - Master of Arts in Applied Social Psychology Reports To: Associate Dean of Applied Social Psychology Reason for vacancy: New position Expected hiring salary: *Rank and salary are determined through an internal review and approval process *minimum $93,636* About the faculty and department The Assistant Professor in Applied Social Psychology plays a central role in advancing the academic mission of the program through graduatelevel teaching, course development, student mentorship, and academic service. The position is responsible for delivering highquality instruction that supports student learning, professional development, and program learning outcomes within the Master of Arts in Applied Social Psychology, In addition to teaching and curriculum development, the Assistant Professor contributes to scholarly or professional activity that aligns with the discipline and supports the ongoing relevance and rigor of the program. The role emphasizes excellence in teaching, meaningful engagement with students, and active participation in service activities that support the program, faculty, and broader academic community. The Master of Arts in Applied Social Psychology program invites applications for faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. Position Requirements: To be successful in the role, an individual must possess, and be committed to developing, maintaining, and demonstrating the following: Education and Experience: - Ph.D. in Social Psychology, or a closely related discipline (e.g., Community Psychology, Health Psychology, Cultural Psychology, Organizational/Industrial Psychology, Sociological Social Psychology, Social or Personality Psychology, Applied Social Psychology) completed by the start date. - Demonstrated evidence of effective teaching, with the capacity to deliver courses such as Applied Social Psychology, Research Methods for Social Psychology, Social Cognition, Interpersonal Relations, and Group Dynamics. - Experience in one or more applied areas (e.g., health psychology, equity and inclusion, social research, program evaluation, conflict resolution) is an asset. - Experience conducting applied quantitative analysis, including descriptive and inferential statistics, and using statistical software such as R, SPSS, Stata, or SAS. - Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and educational technologies. - Knowledge of assessment development. - Strong grounding in social psychological theories. - Experience with course design and curriculum development. - Experience supervising students in applied projects, internships, and/or capstone courses. - Demonstrated evidence of scholarly activities. - Demonstrated communication, community engagement, and collaboration skills. - Engagement with professional associations, applied research or industry projects (asset). - Previous teaching experience at the graduate level is a significant asset. - Highly selfmotivated and directed. - Demonstrates effective prioritization and decisionmaking in highpressure environments. - Capable of handling diverse situations, multiple projects, and rapidly changing priorities. - Possesses strong presentation and interpersonal skills, influencing others with empathy and political acumen. - Maintains a professional manner with tact, diplomacy, and discretion when dealing with colleagues and the public. - Possesses creative problemsolving abilities and exercises sound professional judgment, especially in handling confidential/sensitive matters. - Displays a strong studentcentric and inclusive orientation. - Maintains flexibility and willingness to work outside regular business hours to meet organizational needs.
