Manager, Staffing and Recruitment PASS GRADE 8 ($138,236 - $155,587) Vacancy Status: Current vacancy The Role Reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resources and Staff Well-Being, the incumbent will join a dynamic, collaborative, and high-performing team of human resource professionals who are committed to the execution of strategies that advance organizational and employee effectiveness and performance. The Manager, Staffing and Recruitment is an experienced self-motivated leader who applies an anti-racist, anti-oppressive lens to intentionally identify and eliminate inequitable practices and provide strategic planning, consultation, solution development, and overall management of the Board's casual pool recruitment as well as is responsible for all internal staffing processes. The incumbent will supervise a team of human resource professionals to support the above functions and ensure all services provided adhere to best practices and act in accordance with human rights, employment legislation and collective agreements. Using highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, the incumbent will promote a culture of inclusion, trust, diversity and collaboration within a multi-union environment. Applying subject expertise and modelling transparency, this role will support the Board's strategic directions and priorities in collaboration with union partners, school principals and vice-principals, department managers and Executive Council. Duties Include (But Not Limited To) - Lead all functions related to internal staffing processes in accordance with Board policies, collective agreements, and legislative requirements - Lead effective and timely occasional staff recruitment and selection processes in alignment with the Board's Employment Equity Action Plan and Board policies, to build a highly qualified workforce that reflects the diverse community of Hamilton - Lead a team of human resource professionals to provide exemplary customer service - Oversee the timely completion and accuracy of all new employee entries as well as employee information updates into the HRIS system for all employee groups - Work closely with Manager of Compensation, HR Operations and Analytics to maintain data integrity within the HRIS system and reconcile discrepancies to ensure data accuracy - Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external members to ensure staffing practices, policies and procedures are appropriate, relevant and effective to support the strategic directions and priorities of the Board - Proactively design and implement solutions for a wide range of human resource projects and continually monitor for business process improvements - Collaborate with IT, Payroll and Finance staff on joint initiatives Qualifications - Post-secondary education in industrial relations, labour relations or human resources management or equivalent related education and directly related experience - CHRP/CHRL, Human Resources Certificate or equivalent related professional designation (an asset) - Strong understanding of the Ontario Human Rights Code and the application of the code to human resource service practices - Previous experience in internal staffing processes in a complex multi-union environment, preferably in the education sector - Demonstrate an anti-oppressive/anti-racist understanding and be responsive to the needs and interests of diverse stakeholders - Thorough and comprehensive knowledge of employment legislation and emergent issues in public education - Demonstrated success and ability to create strategic recruitment strategies that include social media and advertising campaigns to attract a diverse talent pool in collaboration with local community organizations - Proven ability to lead, motivate and direct a high performing team to provide exemplary customer service - Demonstrated strategic planning, organizational, analytical, problem solving, research, presentation, and networking skills, with demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities - Strong strategic communication skills and proven ability to apply a high degree of mature judgement and initiative - Demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and/or work environment - Excellent communication skills - Successful track record of developing successful collaborations and partnerships - Demonstrated belief in customer service excellence We encourage using your cover letter as an opportunity to explain how your work, volunteer, and/or lived experience translates to this role.
