Job Description Under the general direction of the Director of Labour Relations, the Labour Relations Advisor is responsible for providing guidance, direction and support to the Human Resources and Operations teams on matters relating to labour relations and best practices, including but not limited to grievance management/tracking, interpretation of collective agreements and general best practices. This position will also be responsible for general administration relating to labour relations matters and will ensure adherence to the Companys policies and procedures, motivate and lead by example and support Great Canadians learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members and management. This position will be based out of Pickering Casino Resort. Position Summary Under the general direction of the Director of Labour Relations, the Labour Relations Advisor is responsible for providing guidance, direction and support to the Human Resources and Operations teams on matters relating to labour relations and best practices, including but not limited to grievance management/tracking, interpretation of collective agreements and general best practices. This position will be based out of Pickering Casino Resort. Key Accountabilities Acts as the first point of contact for site HR and management team for all labour relations matters Leads grievance management process including but not limited to scheduling of grievance meetings, preparing responses, adhering to Collective Agreement timelines Responsible for tracking and maintaining grievance tracking database Responsible for preparation of grievance and arbitration files Coaches and guides Human Resources team members on matters relating to labour relations Assists in the collective bargaining preparation as required Provides general support including but not limited to assisting with collective agreement interpretation and application, research, preparing and/or reviewing general communication Supports the Labour Relations Director during arbitration and mediation process; including the preparation, collection and summation of materials Track and analyze grievances for trends, potential issues with language; identifies opportunities for improvement. Coordinates and participates in Labour Management Committee meetings Builds strong working relationships with team members and union representatives Performs other duties as required Education and Qualifications Minimum 2 years of previous labour relations experience; worked within a unionized environment Degree and/or diploma in Human Resources Management, Labour Relations from a recognized post-secondary institution, or a combination of relevant education and experience. Strong solution-oriented decision-making and strategic thinking skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Experience using SharePoint, an asset Proficiency in MS Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint Ability to multi-task and prioritize Thorough knowledge of employment legislation and regulations Fast learner, interested in continuous process improvement Able to work independently and as part of a diverse team Ability to maintain confidential information Effective persuasion and conflict resolution skills The ability to successfully obtain a criminal record check through the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) About Us Who we are!
