The Clinical Care Program is currently seeking a parttime, permanent Registered Practical Nurse to work in the Psychosis Recovery and Treatment Unit 5 (PRT 5). As a member of an inpatient interprofessional team, you will provide clientcentered psychiatric and general nursing care to clients in different stages of their recovery journey. You will respond to client care needs using a safe, respectful and dignified approach and ensure the safety and security of the client care environment. You will practice in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario professional standards, the CAMH Practice Model of Care, CAMH policies and procedures, and other relevant legislation and regulations. Using a primary nursing model, you will collaborate with the care team to perform ongoing clinical assessments, utilize evidencebased interventions, and develop, implement and evaluate the interprofessional plan of client care to address multiple health care priorities. You will utilize critical thinking, a problemsolving process and customer service in your approach to care and service delivery. As a member of an interprofessional team, the RPN is responsible for working with patients from diverse backgrounds, contributing to program development, and providing educational support and supervision to students. You will have sound knowledge of severe and persistent mental illness and schizophrenia, addictions, crisis intervention, recovery model and therapeutic groups. As an RPN, your skills include the ability to make behavioural observations, perform assessments (including mental status and physical exams), monitor and evaluate patients response to pharmaceutical and other care interventions, document clearly and communicate consistently and timely with other team members. You will support and contribute to a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, promotes learning and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements. This position involves 12hour shift rotation and weekend work at the Queen Street Site. The successful candidate must be a member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario and possess a current B.C.L.S. (CPR) at the HealthCare Provider Level. The candidate must have medication administration certification or completion of an RPN education preparation program that includes medication administration. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to develop the NurseClient therapeutic relationship and work within a collaborative and diverse interprofessional team. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a College program and possess recent strong knowledge of psychiatric nursing and addiction issues. You must have demonstrated ability to intervene effectively in clinical situations requiring the prevention and management of disturbed behaviour. The successful candidate will be a selfdirected team player, highly organized, with excellent critical thinking skills. Experience working with individuals from diverse ethnocultural and socioeconomic backgrounds is required. Proficient computer literacy is also required.
