This role focuses on executing established laboratory methods, accurately documenting results, and ensuring materials meet quality and safety requirements before use in production.Job ResponsibilitiesPerform routine raw material testing independently using approved laboratory methods and proceduresPrepare samples, standardize reagents, and test solutions according to written instructionsOperate basic laboratory equipment and instrumentsPerform scaled laboratory experimentsRecord test data, calculations, and observations clearly and accurately in laboratory records and electronic systemsCompare results to specifications and implement required protocol for out-of-specification results, including appropriate dispositionExtract data, construct charts/graphs and complete quantitative analysis of data to identify trends, draw conclusions and provide recommendationsRecognize problems and resolve test discrepancies when they occurFollow all safety, quality, and environmental procedures, including proper use of PPEMaintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and readiness for audits or inspectionsAssist with equipment cleaning, basic maintenance, and calibration activitiesDevelop and write Standard Operating Procedures for raw material testingTrain and certify associates on raw material testingSupport investigations, re-testing, and continuous improvement activities as assignedWork collaboratively and effectively communicate with quality, manufacturing, R/D and supply chain teams to support plant operationsRespond to requests for information and dataPackage and ship material to other labs and locationsMaintain sample preservation of raw materialsEnter SCARs (Supplier Corrective Action Report) and NCRs (Non-conformance Report); complete required documentation and follow upAdhere to ISO9001 standardsMinimum QualificationsAssociate degree or Bachelors degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, or a related scientific field (or equivalent laboratory coursework)Basic understanding of laboratory practices and chemical safetyStrong attention to detail and willingness to follow written proceduresAbility to perform repetitive testing with consistency and accuracyPhysical Requirements:Ability to stand for extended periods and perform hands-on laboratory tasksAbility to lift and handle materials up to approximately 25 lbsWillingness to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)Work may involve exposure to chemicals under controlled laboratory conditionsPreferred QualificationsInternship, co-op, or academic laboratory experienceExposure to chemical manufacturing or quality control environmentsFamiliarity with wet chemistry or physical property testingExperience working with standard operating procedures (SOPs)Experience or interest in working with data, statistics and graphsKnowledge of ISO9001 standardsSAP knowledgeOtherWe are an Equal Opportunity, Affidavit Action employer.
