QA Specialist Markham, Ontario The Quality Assurance Specialist will have responsibility for various Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance activities primarily within the Companys Canadian and occasionally the International business, working from the Canadian headquarters in Markham, Ontario. The primary responsibility of this role is to support the Quality Assurance and Product Development functions. What Youll Do Here: Serve as a technical resource to ensure all QA/QC documentationincluding HACCP plans, allergen information, Product Specification Sheets (PSS), QA checklists, ingredient specifications, and related documentation for existing and new productsis current, accurate, reviewed, and compliant. Support OutofSpecification (OOS) investigations, including coordination with packers, review of findings, and followup on corrective and preventive actions. Support Consumer Affairs by responding to product enquiries and complaints through the Astute portal, including investigation followup with packers and distributors across the supply chain and providing technical input for response preparation. Maintain SAPbased Document Management System (DMS) records for product labels and QA packer documentation, including DIR codes, document status, and packer information, for both Canadian and International businesses. Provide backup support to the Senior Quality Manager to ensure ongoing compliance with the Companys Preventive Control Plan (PCP) and all applicable regulatory requirements. Maintain and continuously improve product specifications for Canadian and International businesses within the Spec Right database, ensuring accessibility and usability for internal and external stakeholders. Participate in internal and external quality and food safety audits and support audit preparation, execution, and reporting activities. Manage the development and maintenance of product Technical Data Sheets (TDS) and conduct label reviews using the Box platform. Coordinate and execute annual mock recalls with packers and follow up on corrective and preventive actions. Support the development, maintenance, and annual review of Corporate Quality Policies. Ensure timely and compliant completion of Sales and customer requests, including sustainability questionnaires, letters of guarantee, and certificates, in accordance with company standards and CFIA regulations. Coordinate and prepare sample pick orders for warehouses, including PCP sample requests for internal product cuttings (sensory evaluations, weight determination, first shipments for new products) and external routine testing with accredited laboratories. Maintain accurate sample logs and complete cutting documentation. What You Bring to the Team: Bachelors degree in food science or related discipline. Typically, 35+ years of experience working within the CPG food processing industry, with demonstrated application of HACCPbased, CFIA food safety program Preventive Control Plans (PCP) compliant with SFCR/SFCA. Experience in a similar regulated food manufacturing environment will also be considered. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fastpaced, highly regulated environment while meeting internal and external stakeholder expectations. Strong customer and stakeholder focus, with a commitment to delivering accurate, timely, and compliant responses. Selfmotivated, detailoriented, and comfortable working with limited direct supervision, with objectivebased accountability. Compensation: Hiring Range: CAD $60,000 $80,000 This position is eligible for an annual bonus of up to 5%, based on company performance in accordance with the company bonus plan.
