Head Greens Superintendent Mitchell Golf & Country Club Mitchell, Ontario Full-Time | Permanent Position Summary The Greens Superintendent is responsible for the overall maintenance, conditioning, and continuous improvement of the golf course, practice facilities, clubhouse grounds, irrigation systems, maintenance facility, and all associated equipment. This role ensures exceptional playing conditions while fostering a safe, professional, and high-performance work environment for employees, members, and guests. The Head Superintendent is a key member of the leadership team and works closely with Golf Operations, Food & Beverage, and Club Leadership to enhance the overall member experience. Key Responsibilities 1. Leadership, Personnel & Training Lead all recruitment, training, scheduling, supervision, evaluation, and performance management of the Assistant Superintendent and Grounds Crew. Develop clear job descriptions, standards, and performance expectations in collaboration with the General Manager. Conduct regular staff check-ins and performance reviews, providing constructive feedback and professional development support. Promote and enforce health & safety policies in accordance with provincial regulations and club standards. Foster a positive team culture focused on accountability, professionalism, and pride in workmanship. 2. Golf Course & Grounds Management Deliver consistent, high-quality playing conditions that meet or exceed local industry standards. Maintain greens, tees, fairways, rough, bunkers, practice areas, landscaping, and clubhouse grounds. Execute seasonal agronomic programs including mowing, aerating, topdressing, fertilizing, and spraying. Oversee irrigation system operation, repair, winterization, and spring start-up. Prepare and protect the course for winter through proper chemical and fertility applications. Maintain pathways, ponds, drainage systems, and course infrastructure. Ensure daily garbage and recycling collection across all club properties. Order and manage fertilizers, chemicals, plant materials, and supplies with proper documentation. Maintain detailed maintenance and IPM records. 3. Planning, Budgeting & Asset Management Develop and execute the annual agronomic and operational plan. Prepare and manage operating and capital budgets with focus on: Labour efficiency Inventory control Capital equipment planning Long-term course improvement initiatives Oversee preventive maintenance schedules for all maintenance equipment and golf carts to maximize asset lifespan. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and professionalism within the maintenance facility. Ensure compliance with environmental audits and IPM accreditation requirements. 4. Communication & Collaboration Meet weekly with the General Manager to discuss course conditions, tournament setup, and playability. Participate in tournament planning meetings with Golf and Food & Beverage leadership. Provide monthly reports to the General Manager, and Board of Directors regarding: Course conditions Capital projects Budget performance Health & safety matters Water Records Contribute ideas and initiatives that enhance member value and the overall club experience. 5. Professional Standards & Working Relations Collaborate effectively with all club departments. Promote strong employee morale and professional culture. Support operational departments in achieving shared club goals. Model leadership behaviour that elevates the reputation of the position and the Club. Uphold and communicate the clubs philosophy, policies, and longterm vision. Qualifications & Requirements Minimum 3 years of progressive oncourse turf management experience. Degree or diploma in Turfgrass Management or related field. Valid IPM / Pesticide Applicator License. Supervisory or management experience in a golf course setting. #J-18808-Ljbffr
