TPA is an investment mindset centered on preparednessensuring the Fund is ready to respond when conditions change, whether driven by market dynamics or internal priorities. Capital and risk are allocated dynamically across asset classes and investment strategies, with the ultimate objective of safeguarding and enhancing the Funds funded status over the long term. The Total Portfolio Group (TPG) sits at the center of this approach. On behalf of the CIO, TPG leads the Funds asset allocation, portfolio construction, totalfund analytics, and economic research, ensuring that investment decisions are grounded in a wholeoffund perspective. The group also supports the CEO and CIO on structural design elements such as investment governance, benchmarking, and performance attribution, and advances HOOPPs governance frameworks, including guardrails, investment policies, and Board reporting. The Principal, Total Portfolio within HOOPPs Total Portfolio Group (TPG) is responsible for designing and evaluating portfolio positioning and structure in alignment with the Total Portfolio Approach (TPA). Reporting to the Sr. Principal, Total Portfolio, this role focuses on integrating economic insights, portfolio construction principles, risk management, and realworld implementation to develop and present robust strategy recommendations to senior leadership, including the CIO and the Total Portfolio Approach Committee (TPAC). The Principal is expected to perform quantitative and scenario analysis, using advanced tools to inform evidencebased frameworks, and actively collaborates across teams to ensure intentional, wellstructured portfolio outcomes that support the Funds longterm objectives. Success in this role is measured by the clarity and impact of portfolio strategy, the coherence of asset mix across markets, and the degree to which total portfolio thinking is embedded in organizational decisionmaking. What You Will Do Develop total portfolio strategy and design frameworks that translate changes in the economic environment, risk appetite, and portfolio constraints into coherent positioning recommendations. Design and evaluate relative asset class positioning across public and private markets within a Total Portfolio context. Analyze and recommend intraasset class positioning, including exposures across countries, regions, sectors, and styles, where relevant to total portfolio outcomes. Develop customized portfolio solutions within asset classes, such as equity market constructions designed to deliver desired exposures, risk characteristics, and implementation efficiency. Assess how shifts in market structure, correlations, liquidity conditions, and risk premia should influence portfolio composition and risk allocation. Design and evaluate portfolio response scenarios under different economic and market environments, with a focus on preparedness, resilience, and longterm outcomes rather than shortterm tactical timing. Integrate portfolio design considerations with liquidity management, leverage, and balancesheet constraints to ensure strategies are implementable and durable. Support the CIO and CEO with clear, wellstructured analysis on total portfolio positioning options, tradeoffs, and risk implications under TPA. Work closely with Public Markets, Private Markets, Risk, Finance, and Actuarial teams to ensure portfolio strategies are grounded in realworld implementation considerations. Contribute to Asset Liability Committee (ALC) discussions through portfolio reviews and strategy discussions, supporting alignment, communication, and transparency with the Board (not decisionmaking). Support the preparation of Board and Committee materials by clearly articulating the portfolio rationale, design choices, and tradeoffs underpinning total portfolio positioning. Continuously refine portfolio frameworks that embed adaptability, crossasset integration, and disciplined risk usage under TPA. Mentor and provide leadership to junior members within TPG, fostering a strong totalportfolio and one fund mindset. What You Bring 10+ years of experience in total portfolio strategy, asset allocation, portfolio construction, or investment strategy within a sophisticated institutional investor or global asset owner. Demonstrated expertise in portfolio design, including asset class allocation, portfolio construction, geographic and sector positioning, and factorbased exposures. Strong understanding of public and private markets, liquidity considerations, and portfolio implementation constraints. Proven ability to design and evaluate customized portfolio solutions within asset classes (e.g., equity or credit exposures). Experience translating macroeconomic and market environments into portfoliolevel implications, without relying on narrow or siloed frameworks. Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to independently produce highquality portfolio analysis. Ability to influence senior leaders through clarity of thinking, structured analysis, and sound judgment. Comfort operating in environments characterized by uncertainty, evolving regimes, and long investment horizons. Handson mindset: intellectually curious, energetic, and willing to both think deeply and execute directly. Graduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
