We are currently requesting resumes for the following position: Lead Operator, Processing Facilities Resume Due Date: Wednesday, March 11, 2026 (5:00PM EST) Number of Vacancies: 1 Duration: 12 Months Location: Hamilton Ontario Hourly Range: $45 $50 Position Description Reporting to the Project Engineer, the Lead Operator has an all-round operator role, capable of operating and managing all unit operations in High Temperature Metal Recovery (HTMR). You will gain handson experience producing a zinc oxide product in GFLs Hamilton manufacturing plant. You will become familiar with health and safety, quality, and how to be successful in a team environment, developing an ability to operate all HTMR equipment and machinery. You are responsible for managing shift workers, safety oversight & disciplinary action; housekeeping; operational control policies; productivity, quality of work & utilization audits; environmental compliance monitoring; adhering to Collective Agreement terms. Key Accountabilities Operate, troubleshoot and authorize and direct the safe and reliable operation of the HTMR process under normal and abnormal conditions on a 24/7 basis. Operate equipment, machinery and accessories through process control systems Monitor, control, and record all activities of the process. Report on the teams shift activities and observations, safety meetings and production level. Maintain the HTMR process as designed/planned whenever possible. Conduct inspection rounds to ensure that the equipment is working properly. Prioritizes and reports deficiencies of all equipment including data collection and communication systems and conduct followup as required. Assist in establishing all production related goals, objectives, and targets. Communicate and assist collecting samples and work closely with quality control Responsible to manage shift manpower needs to maintain productivity, quality control and meet shift requirements. Ensure all safety concerns and accidents are investigated promptly. Ensure that environmental policies and procedures are understood, and issues/incidents are investigated and addressed promptly. Data review and analysis of production, reporting results to Production Team Responsible for Shift workers to perform a variety of manual tasks in varying temperatures for extended periods of time, which may include lifting light to heavy materials, climbing, standing, squatting, bending, and working at heights when applicable Education/Experience 3-Year College Diploma in a mechanical/electrical discipline or equivalent Chemical process knowledge an asset Valid class G drivers license Requires a minimum of 5-10 years of related operating experience Proficient in computerized control panel/Human Machine Interface (HMI) and personal computer applications including Microsoft Office software a benefit. Required ability to read, interpret and utilize technical prints and schematics Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required ability to perform alone or as part of a team with no direct supervision. To make decisions quickly and decisively during periods of high activity. Good written and verbal communication skills to deal with coworkers and other authorities Proficient in maintaining operational logs, writing simple reports including deficiency and followup Working Schedule/Conditions Operation is a 24/7 basis shift structure. Ability to support on nights and weekends, This position is primarily performed inside an industrial processing building and control room. May be exposed to environmental conditions such as: hot, cold, dirt, dust, wet or noise You must be able to work independently and as part of a larger team environment You must be able to communicate in English both verbally and electronically This is a safety sensitive position.
