Career Opportunities (sapsf.com) General Purpose Reporting to the Manager, Financial Accounting & Reporting in the Controllers Office, the Financial Officer serves as a primary operational liaison and first point of contact for the Controllers Office. The role supports the integrity of University financial operations by assisting with financial system support, yearend close and audit activities, and by providing training and functional guidance to faculty, administrators, and departments. Duties and Responsibilities Serve as the first point of contact for the Controllers Office, managing and triaging inquiries from internal units and external stakeholders Provide guidance on University financial policies, procedures, and account restrictions Administer and monitor trust funds, endowments, awards, scholarships, and expendable accounts to ensure compliance with donor and legal requirements Prepare and process correcting journal entries and resolve account discrepancies Support monthly, semester, and yearend close activities, including preparation of schedules and audit documentation Act as a liaison with external auditors and government agencies, coordinating audit requests and documentation Participate in functional testing of financial systems and support system enhancements Troubleshoot user issues and liaise with IT and systems teams as required Set up, modify, and terminate financial system user access Provide training and ongoing functional support to faculty, administrators, and departmental staff on financial systems and reporting Requirements Community college diploma or certificate in accounting or bookkeeping Minimum of three (3) years of related accounting or finance experience Demonstrated experience with journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and spreadsheet analysis Experience working with financial systems and general ledger environments Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information to individuals with varying levels of financial knowledge Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines Commitment to ongoing learning to remain current with financial policies, donor requirements, and system updates Employee Information Employee Type: Regular Position Number: 10012047 Classification: USW, Local 4120 Salary:Band 5 USW Local 4120 Wage Grid *Tentative evaluation; subject to final review.
