The Mechanical & Piping Lead Commissioning & Start-Up is responsible for leading mechanical and piping work while ensuring all activities are performed safely and efficiently. This is a working supervisor role , where the candidate performs trade work directly while supervising trade crews as needed. The successful candidate will support commissioning, start-up, and maintenance activities for mechanical systems, equipment, and piping installations in an industrial environment, on a 2week on, 2week off rotation. Responsibilities Perform and supervise mechanical and piping work, ensuring compliance with safety programs and site procedures Modify, repair, test, troubleshoot, and inspect mechanical and piping systems Operate rigging equipment to install heavy components Install, repair, and inspect piping system components (mechanical joints, connections) Set, repair, and inspect industrial mechanical equipment such as pumps, compressors, centrifuges, pressure vessels, conveyors, scales, and mining/milling equipment Identify, document, and follow up on deficiencies to ensure they are resolved satisfactorily Complete commissioning documentation including check sheets, inspection test plans (ITPs), and test reports Record accurate asbuilt/asleft conditions on redline drawings, datasheets, and project documentation Participate in commissioning meetings, daily toolbox talks, safety briefings, and job hazard assessments Support development of detailed execution plans and monitor work schedules and productivity Collaborate with project teams to resolve issues and barriers during commissioning and startup Qualifications Journeyperson status as a Millwright or Mechanical Tradesperson . Proven handson experience in commissioning and startup activities. Previous experience in brownfield commissioning environments. Supervisor training or certification. Safety certification is highly preferred. Proficient computer skills. Ability to complete site preaccess requirements, including orientation and substance testing. First Aid and WHMIS certification. Strong technical troubleshooting and mechanical skills. Previous experience in nuclear or heavy industrial facilities (preferred). CSO designation (preferred).
