You will be a senior technical leader within our Mine Waste team, guiding complex projects and helping advance safe, sustainable mining across Canada. Based in Mississauga, Ottawa, or Thunder Bay , you will influence strategy, empower teams, and strengthen WSPs industryleading mining practice. Your Impact Lead the design, review, and optimization of tailings storage facilities, waste rock dumps, and mine water management systems. Oversee and integrate advanced geotechnical, hydrogeological, and geochemical investigations into major mining programs. Provide strategic guidance on environmental planning, permitting pathways, regulatory engagement, and riskmanagement frameworks. Mentor, coach, and uplift teams of junior, intermediate, and senior engineers, building technical depth and excellence across the group. Steer multidisciplinary project delivery through all stages concept, design, construction, operation, and closure. Advocate for innovative mine waste strategies, emerging technologies, and climateresilient approaches. Cultivate trusted client partnerships and lead business development initiatives that grow WSPs mining portfolio. Represent WSP in technical forums, regulatory discussions, client meetings, and industry panels. The Skills That Set You Apart 1520+ years of progressive experience in mine waste, tailings engineering, or geotechnical engineering. Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Geological, or Mining Engineering. P.Eng. designation in Canada. Deep expertise in tailings dam design, dam safety, closure planning, and riskinformed decisionmaking. Demonstrated leadership in managing complex engineering programs, clients, and multidisciplinary teams. A passion for mentorship, innovation, and advancing sustainable mining solutions.
