Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President of Investments, you will provide support for the firms real estate property acquisitions and dispositions, as well as providing adhoc investmentsrelated support as needed. Types of properties will include multifamily apartments, commercial and properties for development projects. Key Responsibilities Support the Investments team with origination, underwriting and acquisition of multifamily apartments, commercial and properties for development projects. (strategies include core, core plus and valueadd) on behalf of the firms funds Perform complex financial analyses in Excel and Argus underwriting proformas, cash flow projections and sensitivity analyses Support the team in identifying and sourcing potential investment opportunities through broker relationships, market research and industry networks Train and facilitate the development of the teams Analyst Assist with managing the due diligence process, including the review and analysis of leases, financial information, engineer reports, environmental reports, legal documentation, and other investmentrelated materials Support adhoc fundraising efforts as required Act as the main point of contact to external parties for transactions Gather and evaluate economic and market data as required Assist with the preparation and presentation of investment approval packages to the firms Investment Committee and Board of Directors Establish and maintain relationships with the real estate broker community Build knowledge and stay uptodate with various markets of interest including desirability of different areas, lease rates, cap rates / valuations, supply / demand dynamics, local regulations, etc. Update and maintain the firms potential acquisition database of properties Participate in real estate events and conferences to gather real estate industry insights and build relationships What You Bring: Post secondary education in commerce, finance, accounting, real estate or related field with a strong record of academic achievement Professional designations such as CFA, CPA, or MBA would be considered an asset Previous experience working in private equity, investment banking, real estate investment management, or real estate brokerage is preferred 3 - 5 years of direct transaction or related experience is preferred Experience across multiple product types (multifamily, residential development and retail) is preferred. Highly skilled in modeling investments in Excel and Argus; experience in modeling joint venture structures with distribution waterfall is preferred Advanced financial modeling, analytical and due diligence expertise, with the ability to assess risk, returns and strategic fit at the portfolio level. Ability to manage multiple concurrent transactions and investment processes Experience conducting detailed financial reviews and analysis of real estate assets to determine investment feasibility. Ability to assess if properties meet the firms investment guidelines and goals. Strong financial and analytical ability with solid organizational skills and ability to multitask Highly developed verbal and written communication skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) with the ability to interact with colleagues at all levels of the organization Predictive Index Assessments As part of our hiring process, candidates complete two short assessments from Predictive Index: A Behavioural Assessment (510 minutes, untimed) to understand your work and communication style.
