DOMESTIC VIOLENCE LEAD OPEN COMPETITION ENOCH CREE NATION Wellness Full Time Posted 1 week ago Job Purpose The Domestic Violence Lead (DV Lead) works within a multi-disciplinary team to provide culturally appropriate, crisis intervention, safety planning, emotional support, and follow-up services for Enoch Cree Nation. By weaving together western medicine and traditional wellness practices the DV Lead plays a crucial role in transforming support for individuals that are experiencing Domestic Violence (DV) and/or Intimate Partner Domestic Violence (IPDV). The DV Lead supports physical, emotional, social and economic well-being that builds resilience and empowers individuals in taking the next steps towards safety, stability and independence. By facilitating a safe and supportive environment, the DV Lead will also provide guidance and information for individuals that are navigating the justice system, federal and provincial legislation and programs pertaining to victims of crime and court support. DV services and supports will be extended to include family, or other support networks as requested, providing immediate mental health and emotional support, trauma-informed individual and group sessions, conflict resolution, teach coping strategies, and coordinate access to essential community and external resources. While maintaining a trauma-informed, person-centered approach when responding to urgent situations, this role requires emotional resilience, adaptability and strong self-care practices. Education, Experience and Requirements - A bachelors degree in social work, psychology, or other related discipline is required. An equivalent combination of education, training & experience may be considered. - Minimum 5 years experience in social service/mental health service delivery, preferably on a First Nations community or with vulnerable populations. - Experience working within the perimeters of the Alberta Mental Health Act and/or the Criminal Justice System. - Strong knowledge of issues related to domestic violence, intimate partner domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking or dating violence. - Will have and maintain certification in Non-violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), First Aid and CPR. - Training in Naloxone Administration/ Seizure Protocol. - Current practicing registration with the applicable professional governing body in Alberta. - Valid Alberta Drivers License (class 5 and/or class 2). - Satisfactory Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check. Working Conditions Hours of 8:30 am 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, Will be required to work some evenings and weekends when required.
