Facilities Operations Manager, Athletics & Recreation Purpose The Manager, Facility Operations provides leadership for the safe, reliable and welcoming operation of Athletics and Recreation facilities on the Keele Campus. Reporting to the Executive Director, Athletics and Recreation, the role is accountable for daily facility operations, preventive maintenance planning, service coordination, risk management and operational readiness for programs, events and rentals. The Manager leads a team that maintains venue standards, responds to service needs, and coordinates renovations and capital improvements in collaboration with campus service partners and central functions. Athletics and Recreation venues supported by this role include: the Tait McKenzie Centre, York Lions Stadium, York Lions Dome, Alumni Field Stadium, outdoor sport fields and outdoor tennis courts. The role also coordinates the operational interface for satellite facility relationships, as required. Education - Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline. - Certification in one or more areas of sport facility management (e.g., aquatic operations, arena or refrigeration systems). - Current First Aid and CPR certification. Experience - Five years related experience. - Three years management experience. - Experience managing large, multiuse sport or recreation facilities, including aquatic facility oversight. - Experience supervising and supporting unionized employees within a collective agreement environment, alongside parttime and seasonal workforces. - Experience planning and delivering maintenance programs and coordinating capital or renovation projects. - Experience managing budgets, forecasting and monitoring expenditures. Skills - Knowledge of facility operations and maintenance practices for complex sport and recreation environments. - Health, safety and risk management practices including emergency planning, incident management and regulatory compliance related to aquatic operations. - Vendor, contract and servicelevel management in a large institutional environment. - Working knowledge of policies, standards and practices related to facilities, sustainability and safety within large, complex organisations such as postsecondary institutions. - Effective planning, prioritization and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing operational demands. - Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical information into practical guidance. - Peopleleadership skills including coaching, performance development, conflict resolution and team building. - Advanced partner relationship and negotiation skills, including collaborating with central functions and vendors. - Customer service orientation and sound judgement in balancing program needs, safety, accessibility and facility integrity. - Proficiency with common office software (word processing, spreadsheets and email) and comfort working with maintenance, scheduling or service request systems. Additional Notes - Work is performed in a combination of office and facility environments across multiple venues. - Regular walking inspections and presence in active sport and recreation spaces (e.g., pool deck, field areas and event setups). - Schedule includes evenings and weekends based on operations and events, with availability for urgent afterhours calls as required. Compensation Hiring salary range: $103,256 - $112,097 (FTE annual). Employees will receive the grid adjustment and, depending on performance, may move to the next step of the grid and may receive a lumpsum Performance Based Recognition Award.
